- Q: Okay, i accidently spilled purple koolaid on a white carpet :-(. Any ideas of how to get it out?
- Dont put any chemical carpet cleaners on it. This can just set in the stain. Use plain water and a white towel to pat away the stain. This should dilute the spot. If there is any residual coloring, use peroxide. Let set for a few minutes and then blot up. Never rub a stain, this pushes it further into the carpeting
- Q: I need to clean a spot of urine from our oriental rug (from Dubai). It may have been a day old when I discovered it. I soaked up as much as I could with a paper towel but it has left a slight stain.
- The guy at the store where I bought my oriental rug said to lift up the rug and put a large bowl under it, and then wet it thoroughly with water with a little dish soap in it. If that's not enough to get the stain out, go to a pet store and ask for an enzyme cleaner. this stuff really works, but you have to keep it wet. Once it's clean and your rinse with clear water, blot out as much water as you can and let it dry. It's best to let air circulate underneath as well as on top.
- Q: I have burned holes in my rug that need repaired. I have a piece of the same rug. Can this be repaired eaisly.....or best to call repair service.
- Cut a square piece of the rug out. Take an old pair of jeans. Cut out a square 1 bigger on all sides as the cut square of the rug. Use Elmers glue and glue the jeans square to the subflooring then put glue on the top of the square. Cut a piece of the carpet from the piece that you have the same size as the first square you cut out. Place it on top of the blue jeans square and press down to make sure it is totally catching the glue. Voila!
- Q: How do you clean the stubborn stains on the carpet in a simple way?
- Sometimes do not care will be coffee, coke or juice sprinkled on the carpet, this small stains, dry cloth or paper for the first time, dry, then use vinegar wet dry cloth, wipe pat on the stains. The dirt on the carpet can be wiped out more than a few times. The broken glass pieces with your hands, chunks with a broom and a fine particles with gummed paper, or with a damp cotton stick, and then get the balcony will shake shake debris.
- Q: Erm... I spilled beer on my carpet.Do I need to use a carpet shampooer or can I just scrub it out? Does it stain?
- If you have a carpet shampooer use it! Yes it will stain! To scrub it out here is a process I have used! Step 1Apply a small amount of mild liquid detergent directly to the stain. Step 2Blot with a dry, white cloth. Step 3Flood the stain with ammonia. Step 4Blot again with the cloth. Step 5Flood the stain again, this time with white vinegar. Step 6Blot again with the cloth. Step 7Apply a little more liquid detergent to the stain. Step 8Blot again with the cloth. Step 9Flood once more with water. Step 10Blot one last time.

- Q: Alright.. so i need to kill fleas that MAY be in my carpet. I havn't seen any hop on me but my kitten has got fleas. I have a 12 month old son also.. that crawls on the carpet and puts anything in sight in his mouth, including his hands that obviously touch the carpet. I am sure SOMEONE has had this conundrum at some point... I am hoping some one can help me with this. What i have done so far, i've washed my precious with baby shampoo and combed the rest out... and so far i haven't seen her itch or any live fleas (she's white so they are evident) but i am sure they have gotten in my carpet in my living room. anything NATURAL or CHEMICAL that is toxic for my cat or baby is out of the question.. thanks for reading. i hope you can help!! :)
- I would suggest first, doing what you are doing. I am not sure if regular shampoo works as well, but dish washing liquid does kill fleas. Using a metal flea comb on the head, face and ears will get the runaways. If you did not do the head right away, you might repeat the bath. Then, after the first bath, wait about 7 to 10 days and repeat the process, which gets any newly-hatched fleas. Make sure that you leave the dish soap bubbles on the kitten until the fleas are not moving. If you repeat this bath and metal flea combing and don't see anymore fleas, you are probably in the clear. If you just go the kitten within about one week, or so you might be O.K. I would wait to use chemicals and especially around a baby. If there aren't fleas jumping onto your kitten right now, there may not be any in the carpeting. Vacuum each day. See how it goes by the next week or 10 days. You can also comb with metal flea comb on a daily basis, if you are so, inclined. Dip any live fleas on the comb, into a cup of water with dish soap in it.
