Q: I have a shag rug in my room. It's right infront of my mirror where I brush my hair, so now there is always hair caught in the shags of the rug. Also, dog hair gets caught in it from my dog. Vacumming doesn't get the hair out.How do you clean a shag rug? I need to get the hair out of it!Help!: I suggest...brushing it/raking it. Sounds weird but back in the 70's when shag rug was in, raking was introduced to the carpets. If you rake it, it combs the direction of the carpet, but also pulls materials in from deep within the carpet. If this doesn't work...try a lint brush with teeth. Not a roller that picks up sticky stuff.

He must find it itchy or something, i only hand wash it in wool mix same as his stable rugs but he HATES it. Maybe the other horses tease him about it and he is embarrassed?LOL.

Q: My roommate used a rug doctor to clean the carpet, she is a complete cleaning novice, and did it while i was at work. She sprayed to much of the cleaning liquid and left us with slightly damp carpet, it now smells. I have been spraying it with febreeze, but it doesn't seem to be helping too much.I was planning a dinner for some friends on friday night, but it's just embarrassing. Is there anyway i can at least minimize the smell by then?: Ok, is the carpet still wet?? If it is, then get yourself a dehumidifier to dry it out. If it is dry and still smells then there is most likely mold under there. The mold smell will not go away and the worse it is, the worse for your health it is. Have the carpet steam cleaned first, then still get yourself a dehumidifier to dry the carpet this time just to be sure it dries in a timley manor and does not do this again. If after a steam cleaning it still smells... well then the carpet is ruined and will have to be replaced. Good luck.

Q: How to clean out the stubborn stains on the carpet with a simple method: Coke is easy to wash, if there isn't too much, can squeeze the detergent (whatever detergent, washing powder is ok)in dirty places, then use a toothbrush or small brush to brush gently, until brush off the cola stains. Then use a wet towel to wipe just brushed place repeatly, until you feel there isn't remaining detergent. After getting rid of the detergent, use dry towel to absorb water on the carpet, and then use the hair dryer to dry the wet places!

I need some sort of heavy duty carpet cleaning suggestions.: Hello, Adding soap to the sticky and black ground in mystery stain is just making it worse. You are adding a surfactant (Soap) that gets sticky when it dries. You need to find out if the stain is a oil ( like food dropped ) or sugars like soda pop. First thing you want to do is get rid of the soap residue. If you have a wet dry vac. Get club soda and pour it onto the stick black ground in mystery stain. Use a soft shoe brush and start brushing the stain. If it is turning foamy you have to get DEFOAMER. Spray it on the carpet till you do not get any foam on your brush. (It cuts soap bonds so you can get the soap residue off the carpet). Keep adding club soda. Extract the club soda from the carpet. The black and sticky should start to go away. You should be left with just the original stain, or it should be gone. If you have no foamy residue and it still is sticky you need a solvent because it is an oil based spot. I don't know where you live but if you look in your local yellow pages for Carpet Cleaning Supply stores you can get Defoamer and Solvents to clean the carpets. BE CAREFUL WITH THE SOLVENTS USE AS LITTLE OF THE SOLVENT AS POSSIBLE. IT CAN DELAMINATE THE CARPET IF YOU USE TOO MUCH. (seprate the carpet backing from the fiber) Solvents will desolve glue.
