However, there are a few things you can do: 1) If you have the same carpet in the closets, cut a hole in the carpet and cut a hole of the same size from the carpet in the closet. You won't notice it in the closet as much as you think. 2) If the padding IS modly as well, please consider replacing the carpet.

Buy a tub of Oxy-Clean, make a thick paste out of warm water in a Dixie cup. spread on carpet, work in with brush, wait a minute, then pick up the most that you can with a wet towel, rinseing at least once.

The first link talks about the hair spray, and to saturate the ink stain with it, and what to do next... The other link gives you tips for trying to remove it using nail polish removal.
