- Red dye from kool aid is one of the hardest stains to clean. Your best bet would be trying to find a professional carpet cleaner to remove the stain, but since the carpet is such a light color I'm sure they won't be able to guarantee any type of results.
- Q: I recently bought an ikea rug, which isn't exactly an area rug, but is big enough not to put in a washer. I vacuum it regularly, but it is a white rug with big colourful blobs, and the dirt off of my feet can be seen in certain spots.. I was wondering if anyone knew how to clean it.. - For the heavily soiled areas, use a rug stain remover, like Spot Shot or Resolve carpet cleaner. For the rest of the rug, use a cloth dampened with a white vinegar and water mix. It will clean and deodorize the rug. Turn a fan on, directed at the rug to help speed the dry time.

- what are you cleaning the rugs with afterwards? if it is an ammonia based cleaning product it is likely to attract the cat, who is probably marking his(?) territory. Is he happy within the group of cats, or does he scrap/is he picked on by the others? The easiest way to stop this is to remove the rugs for a few weeks then put them back to see whether the habit is broken. If not you may need to resign yourself to a life without rugs.

- Most of them will move and wrinkle unless they're very heavy. What you need to do with the rugs you have is to buy some waffle weave non-skid stuff to put under the rugs. You can even tape it on the rug with masking tape or carpet tape. Ikea sells it, called Stopp, and they also have a felt underlay called Stopp Filt. That stuff could increase the wrinkle resistance of the carpet if it's used. They sell stuff like the Stopp just about anywhere carpet is sold, and it comes in larger sizes that you can cut to fit.

- Itay, There is a wide range of prices and qualities of hand-made products. Wool quality, wool quantity, the origin country of product, design of product, age of product, dye of product(natural dye, village dye, semisynthetic dye)are the factors on the prices of pruducts. If you bought the rug in a reputated store, with a little personal discount the price you paid is okay. If you bought the rug in the souq without bargin for 50% less then you paid to much. Take the rug to a professional and get an opinion. Btw: prices of handvooven rugs go also by how many knots the square meter. Why didn't you place this question under: Egypt? You definetley have not been to Saudi Arabia. And prices of a prayer rug do not depent on you religon and you nationality either. Take care

- I do not think you can ever thoroughly clean a carpet, regardless of your region. My suggestion is, use a high powered, vacuum, like a shopvac, with a carpet brush. This will suck as much dust out of the carpet as possible. Do not use an upright vacuum, or one with a moving brush, because this creates vibrations, which will just drive much of the dust between the carpet and under-pad, even between the under-pad and the floor. If the dust is really bothering you, consider pulling up the carpet. What is underneath? If there is a finish, great. If not, it probably is not that expensive to put down wood or tile. Then you can sweep and/or wash to get your floor the cleanest possible. I live in southern Ontario, in an ancient house, and just last year I pulled up the carpet in my front room. It revealed great-looking floorboards, and has made me feel so much better -- you would not believe the amount of dust and crap under the carpet and under-pad.

- you could rent a rug doctor and clean the carpets. They usually rent for about $25-$30 and then you just buy the soap to go in it. My parents always add a little ammonia to the water too so it helps bring out the stains.

- Hi. First get a 2 x 4 or a bit larger, then, you want to go to a carpet store, and ask if they have any remnant's left over. Take the remnants, and use a staple gun to attach the carpet to the wood. After wards, you can attach this to your wall. I have done this, and it works great.
