- Q: i personally don't like carpet cause it gets crappy looking so easy with stains
- I agree. The fashion trends of carpet are too expensive to keep up with. Wood floors are the way to go.
- Q: If my room is 18x19 feet and the carpet cost is $27.77 per square yard and the installation coat is $ 175.00 . How much would it cost to install the carpet ??????
- If its a straight rectangle of 18x19. Carpet comes in 12 and sometimes 15ft widths ( figures are based on 12 goods), you ll need at least a pc of carpet 12x31 12x31 =372 s/f . And doing it the way you figured (s/y which isn t the way the law says to do it) Its 41.33 s/ys There are a few variables such as pattern matches , if any and such but thats a basic layout. 12x31= 372 372 divided by 9 is 41.33 s/y 41.33 x27.77=1147.73 1147.73 +175.00= $1322.73 Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. - Q: How can I wash the ink off the carpet?
- Liquid ink: immediately use absorbent paper blotting ink, rinse with warm water, while drying excess moisture, if you need carpet cleaning agent available.
- Q: paint on carpets
- try some sort of virgin solvent a little spot at a time. if you have to use a generous amount you will need some way to rinse the carpet out. be careful because the solvent can damage the fibers if you use to much
- Q: my brother spilled water on the carpet and instead of drying it up he just threw a towel over it and left it all night. now the carpet smells really bad of mildew. i tried washing it with soap and water and it helped a little. i tried febreeze but that did no good. i don't have a steam carpet cleaner.
- The carpet just sat overnight and now smells of mildew? Wow. First you need to kill the mildew. I would spray it with Lysol so that you saturate the wet spot. You need to make sure that the padding underneath the carpet will be clean and dry, so you may even need to lift up the carpet to check the padding. If the water has saturated through to the padding, you need to Lysol that too. Then blot it with a towel to get as much of the moisture out as possible, and turn a fan on that spot and leave it for a couple of days until you are sure it is completely dry. Then work some baking soda into the carpet and vacuum it up.
- Q: Hi,I am a tenant and had a leakage from a dishwasher. now carpet is wet and smelly.around 1 square meter is the carpet area affected. I told the landlord about it. My question is should I remove the carpet myself in the meantime just to prevent mould from building up?As long as I took pictures I am safe doing it if landlord does not send someone to fix within say 48 hours?Regardless, is it not the best thing to do anyway - remove the wet section and put in garbage until they come to install new carpet? is trying to dry and clean it instead an option?THANKS
- If you have access to a wet dry vac, then there is no need to remove/replace carpet.
- Q: cleaning rugs/my wine/ pets?
- If you are going to keep the rugs, then get rid of the messy animals, if you keep the animals then get rid of the rugs. The two do not go very well together. Urine, vomit, feces, what's this world coming to, does everyone keep a zoo in the home?
- Q: I am wanting to make a braided rug. I have done a lot of research and have patterns, know how to do a few different braids, etc. The trouble I am having is deciding what kind of material to use. I know most people use scraps. I have some old clothes I can cut up, but what material is best? I have mostly old cotton t-shirts. Would that work? Do jeans work? Or should I just buy some sort of material at the store? Any recommendations??
- just make sure it is about the same weight and texture, and my grandmother used empty bread bags and weaved a beautiful one for the front door porch, it was durable and weathered well.
- Q: I have a rug that my sister gave me as a gift. The colors are perfect for my home and it's the perfect size for where I need it. But there's a problem - it's in a high traffic area (landing on the stairs) and it won't stay put. It creases in the center and gets pushed up against the wall as the traffic goes by - causes safety hazard because now we're tripping all over it, and i'm getting so tired of bending down to straighten it. I know it probably wasn't an expensive rug, but I would hate to throw it out. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get it to stay on the carpet? I was thinking about gluing some thing on the bottom corners to weight it down.... maybe that's a crazy idea. I was also thinking maybe there's a way to attach it to the carpet, like a safety pin.... probably crazy too because then i'd just end up with holes in my carpet. Maybe someone more creative has an idea or knows of a cost effecient product that could help me.
- It's because the wall to wall has a nap -- the fibers tend to bend in a certain direction and every time you step on the area rug, the pressure compresses the fibers of the wall to wall carpet pile down in one direction -- when the pressure releases when your foot moves, the pile springs back, catching the backing of the area rug and inching it forward. The sticky carpet-to-carpet liners you can buy (like the first answer mentioned) do help some but if your wall to wall is a fairly deep plush there is really not much you can do to stop the area rug creep. I have found over the years that soft unbacked area rugs like dhurries and Navajo blanket type rugs don't creep as much as regular broadloom or oriental area rugs that have the stiffer cotton warp backing. But they still eventually creep to some extent.
- Q: okay where can i find either a girraffe or polar bear rug.
- I have never heard of a Girraffe coat or rug or a Polar Bear coat however, to find a Polar Bear Rug now may be very difficult and expensive but I would try the yellow pages in my community and call all the furriers listed especially if they sell Fur skins. You could even try the fur auctions such as the North Bay Fur Auction. Sorry I don't have a number.
