Q:The other day I just found out that I had a hand-made rug that was made in Iran and bought by my grandparents about 10-15 years ago, the rug is about 6x8 and they paid around $2000 dollars for it.My question is what is the proper way to clean a rug that is hand-made? It has not been cleaned in years only vacuumed... and also is there a market place for these rugs? if I do decide I want to sell it.
Most large cities have companies that specialize in oriental rug cleaning, maybe you are near one of these. I would suggest having it professionally cleaned every few years so that it will be less attractive to carpet beetles and clothes moths.
Q:can i keep my highland pony out all year without a rug even in the snow. i feel a bit bad but what would be the best way.
Ach, he's a Highland! He's built for it! Provided he's unclipped he has all he needs to keep him going all through the winter. There are Highlands all over the country living out naked; the Highland, more than almost any other breed, is exceedingly well equipped to cope with harsh winters. HiPos have got great coats - there is a very dense short under layer which sits a lot like fluffy fleece, and over that are the long hairs which are quite waterproof. The way the long hairs ripple in the wind is like a field of barley in the spring. If you have clipped him to ride, he will need a rug. If he has not been clipped he does not need one, and putting one on him will intefere with what he was bred for. His own winter coat will keep him much warmer than any rug could; Highlands, like Shetlands, can be out at night with snow on their backs and ice in their whiskers, and so long as there is some hay to eat they are plenty warm enough.
Q:We just got laminate flooring. It's tongue and grove and looks like shiny cherry wood. We have a 5x7 area rug in the middle of the floor, it's just a simple flat maroon area rug bought from Walmart. Is there anything I can place underneath the area rug that won't scratch the flooring and that will keep pet stains from seeping through to the laminate flooring. I have a 16 year old dog and he pees everywhere and for some reason he's fond of area rugs. I've pulled the carpet up to find that the pee has seeped through. Also because of the seepage I'm afraid of thoroughly cleaning the soiled area, such as with a carpet cleaner, because of the cleaners seeping down to the laminate.Thanks.
Hey Melissa, I am a flooring associate from The Home Depot, and I answered a post on here not too long ago about area rugs. I would say for your money and time the best things to get are buying a carpet (NOT rug) pad from your nearest home improvement center that has a moisture barrier. Almost all carpet pads and rug pads are not going to waterproof, but make sure to buy one with a moisture barrier. It looks like a red or blue film on the backside of the pad. At least with Home Depot, you can come in and we can cut it into a size that fits as close to your 5x7. That way, when your dog has an accident, the pad can capture that without ruining your new laminate flooring. To make sure the rug stays down, buy double sided rug traction tape, again found at your local home improvement store. Use it only in corner areas, since you may need to clean the pad periodically due to the dog. The traction tape ensures that the rug and pad won't slide around. Lastly, consider using spray Scotch-Guard on your area rug. It's a easy and great way to capture his messes before it soaks into the rug completely. Scotch-Guard just sprays on and it can be reapplied after several cleanings. Doing the moisture barrier carpet pad, traction tape, and Scotch-Guard will protect your rug and more importantly your laminate flooring. Hope this helps, aboveaveragejoe
Q:what's an estimation on installing cheap carpet and padding in a 15x18 room? thanks!
Well it really depends on where you live and who there is to install it. You can usually count on atelast $50-$150 an hour for installation. Some come as a package. Carpet usually can run anywhere from $1.99 on sale upwards to $15.00 a sq ft.
Q:I tried using Prosolve Triple Action on my carpet after staining it with tea...IT DIDN'T WORK!!Any ideas!?
Try blotting the tea stain with a white cloth or paper towel. Do not rub, as that will only spread the stain and cause it to possibly set deeper into the carpet fibers. Continue blotting with clean towels until you get most of the tea stain up. Blotting is repeatedly pressing directly down onto the spill. Step2 Mix a half cup of white vinegar with one cup of warm water and apply it to the tea stain using a spray bottle. If you don't have a spray bottle, you can carefully pour the mixture on the stain. Step3 Blot up the vinegar mixture using clean white cloth or paper towels until the towels come up clean. Step4 Make a solution of one teaspoon dish detergent to one cup warm water, and apply to the tea stain if the vinegar did not remove the tea stain completely. Blot as much up as possible, removing the soap mixture and the tea stain. Step5 Rinse the carpet by spraying or gently pouring clear water on the stain. Blot as much up as possible, and let the area air dry for at least one hour. Step6 Check the area after about an hour. If any of the tea stain remains visible, mix one teaspoon of peroxide in one cup of warm water, spray the stain and blot until the stain is gone.
Q:I was at the yard today and one of the owners was talking about one of these rugs, and I can't put my finger on the name of it. Just wanted to read up a little bit about it.All I know is it begins with a B and lots of people ride with it still on the horse and just put a saddle over it.Any suggestions? :s
I use one, in ireland we call them exercise sheets.
Q:What is dornier carpet
It can be folded, or use below 30 degrees Celsius warm water with soft detergent to wash blanket surface. Size (CM), not easy to slip
Q:What material is good for office's doorway carpet?
The door before the blanket or carpet. Chenille is more good-looking and comfortable, but it can not wipe the shoes
Q:Big carpet can be washed directly with water, and then dry it exposed to the sun ?
Wash, then dry, don't directly exposure to the sun
Q:I already have my carpet and padding. We purchased a whole house of like new, but used carpet at a great price for our LR and BR's and we have carpet padding. We planned to pay to have the carpet installed, but we are now completely out of money and paying someone is not an option. I know it will not be as nice or last as long, but I am wondering if we can glue the carpet down? It's just a regular mid-grade plush carpet. I am also wondering if this can be done with carpet padding or can it only be glued directly to the sub-floor? I am trying to figure out if I could staple down the carpet padding and somehow glue the carpet to the padding? Any help/suggestions on gluing down carpet with or without padding would be appreciated. Thanks!
