- Q: Candle wax has dripped onto our carpet and we need a way of removing it without destroying the carpet.
- Using an iron and brown paper works excellent as a first step and after that if some wax still remains use a product called Goo B Gone sold in the market and hardware stores. Works excellent for lipstick, adhesives and other stains for clothing, carpets and on objects. Although if your carpet is wool it is tricky to get all of the wax stain out.

- Sounds like you have asked a lot of good questions. Padding under carpet is even more important than the carpet itself. Whether you are buying the lower, middle or top end carpet, you should always buy the most expensive padding. It will make all the difference in the feel of the carpet as well as how it wears. And it is not that expensive. Hardwoods these days should be the pre-done floors that Bruce and all hardwood companies have been doing for years. Because they are cut and polyurethaned in house they are stronger and more durable than floors that are raw cut, laid, and only a couple of coats of poly done. When your contractor lays hardwood floors, they also lay the wood moldings.

- Ideally, you need a sub-floor for carpet tiles. If you have hardwoods, you can ruin them with carpet tiles. Otherwise, I have carpet tiles in my attic, which is my kids bedrooms. I went with that style intentionally because they love anime and we went with an Asian decor. Here is where I also admit that the builders put in a sub-floor for us and gave us the carpet tiles for free...lol I love them. One of my husbands friends is a very handy person and helps with all the DIY, so he helped to lay them. There are no seams and I think they are perfect. Carpet companies usually have some carpet that they will sell for cheap. We had them lay a plaid carpet in our basement because it was good quality, but wasn't selling because its plaid. I love it. Its off white with navy and black lines. Perfect for our exercise room, my sewing room.and under the pool table. Made us get blue felt for the pool table and I think it's beautiful. Check with them.

- Q: I have a espresso colored round table (i think its about 4' or 5' diameter) and it also incleds a leaf to extend the table into an oval shape. I am trying to decide what kind of rug i should get for underneath the table (there is ceramic tile in this area). Its going into the formal living and dining room in the house which is the first you room you enter when you come into the house. The entire room is about 13' wide by 22' long. There will also be a buffet by the table taking off about 2' or so from the width. - Q: I have a 4 month old who's crawling and walking while holding onto things. Needless to say, he's 4 months old and falls flat on his face quite often and just pushes himself along face down with his legs for a few seconds before picking himself back up. So he's got a rug burn on his nose...Any treatments for a quick cure? Aloe Vera, maybe?
- gotta love the first little baby bumps. no quick cures that i know of for rug burns, but some good lotion like aquaphor will help it heal and if you coat her nose with it before a crawling session it may act like a buffer lol. you could use neosporin so no scars, but i don't like putting that stuff on my babys face. my daughter gets the rug burns on her knees and elbows now that she is a little older. try getting her some babylegs to put over her legs (or arms if she'll let you) to prevent rug burns there. i have started making my own to match all her outfits lol. they're addicting! when it's hot here, i just let her crawl around with her dipe on and babylegs, nothing else. so they're usable in all weather. (best thing to use them for is the gap between the bottom of her pants and her socks when you put her in a carrier or stroller in the cold weather)

- I don't think a purl stitch rug is a standard thing that would have a video. It sounds like a design made specifically for that book. The thing is, there is no need to purl a whole rug when it is generally easier to knit than to purl, and a purl is just the back side of a knit stitch. So you could knit the whole thing in whatever shape you like and just turn it over to have a purl stitch rug.
