- Q:Hello everyone. Im having LCD PC monitor (TFT). Today morning I found that Its screen has got a patch at the bottom. Even the set-up bar is not visible because of it. The patch's hiding almost 1/4th of the screen. Its monsoon here.So Is It because of the moisture? If not then what else it could be? - Sounds like teh LCD panel has failed internally, causing the L (Liquid) in teh Liquid Crystal Display to flow. No way to repair I'm afraid, new Monitor time. Hope it was under warranty / insured

- It sounds like your monitor's back-light is bad. This is a common problem with LCD monitors. LCDs use a lamp (usually fluorescent or possibly neon) that provides the illumination for the screen. Often times this lamp will go bad before anything else on the monitor. One of the symptoms is when the monitor is turned on the lamp will work initially, but after a few seconds, and the lamp warms up, it shuts down. Most times if you look closely, with some external light onto the screen, after it shuts off you can see a very faint, dark image on the screen of what was on the screen before the lamp went out. This is the image without the benefit of the internal light to illuminate it. If you don't see any faint image, but the screen seems to be somewhat illuminated, then your inverter (another monitor internal component) may have gone bad. At this point you have two options. 1) Take it in to get repaired by replacing the lamp or inverter, or 2) Purchase a replacement monitor. Best of luck.

- Q:Hey. I have a Viewsonic VX1940W 19 LCD monitor. It has worked fine for last year with my new computer (which I got at the same time).Just recently, when I boot my PC the beginning screen shows very briefly then my monitor just shuts off and goes to black. - Did you play with the output settings for your monitor? You might want to try and running it in safe mode and changing the output settings. Not all monitors can use all settings. For example 800x600 is the standard, but if you have a widescreen you might use something like 1600x1200. Try tuning it back down to 800x600 so your monitor will recognize your graphics card output.
