- I would check the cable theory by just switching cables, or even wiggling it. It may just be a short in the cable on that particular color's strand. It may aslo be the plug on the PC or monitor. Other than that, i am not sure if LCD's can actually lose colors.

- Well if you want a monitor bigger than you your self Then get a CRT they are huge. I would acctually get a 20 LCD FlatScreen monitor but I bet the 17 is in your price range so I would get an Envision 17 Flat Screen LCD Monitor from Costco, Bestbuy, Circuit City. Alot of computer stores carry it. I am using dual-17 monitors (LCD) and I love them I used to have a bulky 15CRT and it was right in my face because it was so long and big but the screen viewing it self was small so over all I prefer the (17 LCD Flat Screen Monitor)

It's 17 and has a silver border/case.I've heard that black and other dark-colored borders/cases are bad on the eyes because most of the time you're looking at lighter backgrounds and the sharp contrast strains the eyes.I was about to purchase a 19 LCD monitor the other day it was on sale and had nice specs like 4 ms response, 1400:1 contrast ratio, etc. But it had a black border and did not have a TCO rating, so I held off.Any suggestions? - I agree with the other answers. I have an 18 Dell LCD and have no problems with eye strain. An interesting note, my uncle ( a retired IBMer) said he read that the optimum size TV should be 1/3 the distance you are from it. The reason being if it's too big, your eyes are constantly going left and right to take in the entire view. Too small and you wind up squinting. Whether this might also apply to computer screens, I don't know. If you haven't all ready done so, try adjusting the brightness and contrast to a comfortable level- that's about the easiest ( cheapest) trick to do. Hope this helps you!

- The main difference between a TV and a monitor is a tuner capable for converting a TV signal into a viewable picture. Typically, a TV will have an F connector input (the screw-on cable type) in addition to the standard monitor inputs (VGA, DVI, HDMI). If you are planning on using an HD cable box or other converter with VGA, DVI or HDMI outputs, you will be fine with a monitor. If you plan to hook up the cable or antenna connection directly to your screen, you will need a TV.

- If the monitor has an hdmi port hen it surely has line out audio which means you can connect a regular 3.5mm speaker to the line out port on the monitor and get hdmi audio output from the speakers. also if u want u can turn on a/v multi audio output from the ps3 audio settings and then select the a/v red white cables for audio output but in that case you will need a a/v to 3.5 mm converter to connect ur speakers

- Yes I can give you some input. For real, no b.s. like on Polls and Surveys. I studied monitors last year extensively, and here are my results: The two best choices I could find were Viewsonic and Samsung. I went with the Viewsonic 22 because of it's extremely high user satisfaction ratings, the unbelievable warranty it came with, and the price. Samsung was neck-n-neck, with Viewsonic. But the warranty wasn't as good, and they weren't on the market as long so I had no long term performance information to go on. You will never regret buying a Viewsonic anyway. They are not going out of business, and their quality is near the top of the heap. I bought it from COSTCO. If you don't have a membership then I recommend that you get one, because you are going to save the membership fee with the monitor purchase anyway. They have both Samsung and Viewsonic. You can go with the Samsung, if you want. You won't hear complaints from me. I'm just advising you from extensive experience and age (unfortunately), how you can make the best choice. You can see my monitor on my 360. The picture is tiny, but, you can see it.
