Q: Does it take more power to pump water with a 1 /12 hp bg motor/pump than one that is a spare pump/motor running dry,not connected to the system? I am trying to figure out how long it will run with an power inverter during a power failure.
Hi there, Your 1/12 HP motor will draw 0.52 amps at 110 volts from the inverter. It would draw about 5 or 6 amps from the 12 volt battery to produce the 0.52 amps from the inverter. You need to know the amp-hour rating on your battery then divide that number by 5-6 to get an approximate time the pump would operate on backup. Yes a pump that is pumping water will draw considerable more power than a pump that is pumping 'dry'. The best way to check is to just try your setup and see how long it lasts (before it's needed) since there are inefficiencies in the inverter, voltage drop in the wiring and perhaps the backup battery is not new. Manufacturers always are optimistic with their ratings Short answer: try it out before you really need it then you will know for sure. Hope this helps, Al
Q: Okay, I have a 1982 Suzuki Dt8 that someone gave me. But it will not pump water well, when you reve it it will have a little watter shoot out the water outlit, but heres the thing. if you take the cover off be the shift linkage and run the engin it will pump water through just fine
I've passed on answering your question a couple times, mainly because I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. So let me ask. In the water does the engine overheat? I'm not sure that what you are looking at isn't the relief hole and not the water discharge, which should be under water. How are you supplying water to your engine? Are you running in a barrel? The water pump should be replaced every 2-3 years, so unless you are going to do it yourself, take it to a shop and explain what you are observing. Taking the cowling off will have no effect on the water pump, so I'm guessing you are looking at the wrong place. P.S. This was a common error with Evinrude small motors back in the 70's and 80's, motors similar to yours. The exhaust fin was just behind the propeller. not higher up the leg
Q: What is the function of a submersible pump?
Submersible pump motor and pump is directly connected with the water pump body into the water to work, it is suitable for the extraction of groundwater from wells, can also be used in rivers, reservoirs, canals and other water projects: mainly used for irrigation and plateau in the drinking water, but also for the city, factories, railways, mining and construction site the use of water supply and drainage.Characteristics of submersible pumps for well1 、 motor, water pump, submerged operation, safe and reliable.2, the well pipe and pump water pipe without special requirements (i.e.: steel tube wells, tube wells, Doi ash can be used).3, installation, use and maintenance of convenient, simple, small footprint, do not need to build pumping stations. The structure is simple, and the raw materials are saved.4, submersible pump conditions are appropriate, properly managed, and has a direct relationship with the service life.
Q: My 2000 Pontiac Sunfire has been overheating and I recently changed the thermostat thinking that was the problem. The new thermostat didn't help and the engine is still over heating. I am starting to think it might be the water pump. How can I tell for sure? When I changed the thermostat and refilled the coolant tank I left the cap off and started the car to work out the air. I was told I should see bubbles in the tank but nothing happened, I thought this might be a sign of a bad water pump. I think I will be able to change the water pump on my own I just want to know for sure if that is the problem.
I agree with f100-supersabre's answer. And here's some more to ponder... Chances are your water pump is just fine. When was the last time, if ever, you serviced your cooling system? And by that I mean dumping the old anti-freeze, back flushing the system to include the heater core and refilling with fresh coolant. If the answer is never then your radiator is probably toast. The internal passages are clogged and it does not dissipate heat effectively any more. Another thing to consider: the electric cooling fan(s). How many does your car have? With one fan, the fan will run: Anytime the A/C is switched on. When the tempurature sensor in the cooling system rises above the preset value of the sensor. With two fans: One will only and always operate when the A/C is switched on. The second will operate in response to the preset value of the cooling system sensor. Check the operation of the fan or fans. Turn on the A/C, the fan or one of the fans will turn on. With one fan only, turn the A/C off and let the car idle until the the single fan turns on in response to engine temperature. With two fans, you can let the A/C run and let the car idle until the second fan turns on in response to engine temp. If the fans don't work as they should, the first place to look is for a blown fuse. High amp fuses are found in the engine bay in a seperate fuse box ...look for this ..pop the lid and check the fuses. A map for the fuse purpose/location is usually found under the lid. If the fuses look okay, then it may be a bad sensor or it might be a bad fan. The sensor is usually less expensive and easier to swap out than the fan assemblies. Your cooling system, if has been neglected, may need both a radiator and some work on the fans if they prove less than up to snuff.
Q: I Need a water pump, no matter its fountain pump or high stream pump. But the things or you can say the parameters i required in that pump is, 2 inch minimum outlet from where the water come out, pressure 130 or above (in PSI) runs wid a 1 or 2 Horse Powered motor not more then 2HP. And the pressure calculation is flow of the water (130 Psi) , like while water is streaming out.Any one who can sugest some water pumps which can fulfill or near or above to my requirements. thanks alot sir for you kind time.
With 100M of 'head' you're going to need a constant displacement pump, and high pressure piping. I'd consider an intermediate lift station.
Q: What is the relationship between pump power, lift and flow?
The pump power is more marked discrepancies in the actual application, power flow, power and small traffic hours, head directly determines the flow, high lift flow is small, the power is small. This view is the largest public understanding of the subversion of the original. I 1.1KW a self suction pump the actual operation of the power, it is able to explain this, 1.1KW would say 1.1 per hour of electricity, but I made a note of the meter, the per hour only 0.6 degrees, no wonder people say the true power of pump not so much, such as 1.1KW, said to be only 750W this is true, I believe. The rated power of pump or need to reach the normal traffic to its go to this value, or is the virtual standard, industry inertia. I put the home pump is pumping, water is two hundred or three hundred meters away a shallow river, because of the long distance, flow Volume is not very large, basically only rated 1/3 bar, and I do not know is the flow of low power consumption reduction, or the actual power of the pump did not mark that big, it is still under exploration...
Q: I would like to pump water from a canal which is approx. 65ft from my existing sprinkler plumbing. the height of the water level on average is approx. 6ft from the surface of the ground. I will need about 35 psi to operate the sprinkler zones. would the following pump work given the lose of pressure?... Horsepower:1.5Voltage:110V 60hz 9.5AmpPower ( max ):1100 WMax Flow :330 L/Min (87 GPM)Suct Hmax9M(30ft)Max Head:18 MInlet/Outlet Size:1.5quot;RPM:3450
You did not say where you live and or what kind of canal it is. If this is an irrigation canal and they catch you pumping water out of it , you will be in for a great big surprise when the law shows up at your door with a very expensive ticket or fine. These canals are checked regularly for things like this and they do not put up with people stealing their water. Strongly suggest that you find out who owns the canal and contact them before you start pumping water from it. It could save you literally hundreds of dollars if not more in fines and fees.
Q: Trying to replace my water pump and was told labor would cost $90 for an 06 impala 3.9L I don't know if it's reasonable for the amount of work.
way too cheap , they are obviously going to stack the price on extras and ancillaries, belts, coolant, thermostat etc
Q: Mechanic really could not locate the origin of the leak but says the water pump needs to be replaced and says it's a lot of work and would cost $350. How can the origin of the leak be determined. He used a pump and raised the pressure on the radiator but that didn't reveal anything either. Please help.
It's probably the water pump, but if he has to take the timing belt off anyway, ask him if he can just put a new timing belt on for only the cost of the timing belt.
Q: Pump performance parameters have three sets of data, how to understand the flow, lift, flow speed
The middle parameter is the rated value. The lower limit is the maximum. General use of valve control.
