Q:Does a water pump has to leakin to be bad?How can I tell if my water pump is workin?
by the sound of it, no the water pump is not working. i had the same problem with my car. it started over heating, so i replaced the radiator cap, still over heated. replaced the thermostat, and still over heated. finally i took off the water pump, to find that the fins that are inside the punp, ( that move the water around) had all corroded away. i replaced the water pump with a new one, and its been running great ever since.
Q:should replace timing belt & water pump on a newly purchased used vehicle..if no records of last x changed?
better to do it now than in the middle of winter when you have no choice good luck
Q:I am wanting a water pump for the basement for when the electricity is off. What do you recommend?
what about a small gas genarator and an extenstion cord?
Q:Rechargeable Battery Water Pump?
Since you don't mention the model of the pump, if you can connect the charger with a dry connection, you should not have to remove the pump/tube. If you have to take the battery out, you stand the risk of dropping it in the water putting it back, but obviously (I think) you don't have to remove the pump/tube.
Q:Urgently need USB water pump please?
The USB output has a 5V power supply. USB2 delivers up to 500mA and later versions may be 900mA. USB hubs start off with less than this (100mA) but change as they are initialised. Some dedicated USB charging ports supply up to 1.8A. There are some USB power cables that take the output from 2 ports in a sort of Y harness (first link for example). The result of all this is that only a very small pump would run from most USB ports. I did find 2 rated at 5W and 8W but the voltage was not shown. I suspect they were mains operation, meant for large water bottles. If they were 5V they would use 1A and 1.6A respectively, so only run from special USB charge points or double cables, and only in some cases anyway. I assume you want to run from a Laptop/Notebook battery for convenience. The point is that even if the USB port can supply the correct voltage and current the battery would be emptied very quickly. It is probably cheaper to get a suitable pump, then power it from a separate and more suitable rechargeable battery or mains adaptor (wall wart), whatever it takes, taking into account how long it should run with a single charge. This is about the battery voltage and the capacity in ampere hours - the number of hours it can supply a given current. D size rechargeable (Ni-MH) would run a 6V x 6W motor using 1A for about 6 hours. C size cells are half that, and AA cells about half again. It takes 4 cells to get 5V. Get them as a pack though or at least with a battery holder, as they cannot be soldered. Then you need a proper charger. Recent laptop/notebook batteries are lithium ion types, 10.8V and 4.8Ah, so deliver 1A @10.8V for 4h more or less. Other types worth considering are for cordless drills.
Q:94 pontiac bonniville water pump removel?
You will need to remove the pulley from the water pump, first loosen the small bolts around the front of the pulley while the belt is still on I think there is four or six bolts holding it to the water pump, when you get them loose then you can remove the belt,if the belt is not enough to hold the pulley while loosening the bolts you may have to put vice grips on one bolt while loosening the others...
Q:Submersible pump and self-priming pump which is easy to use?
Pump generally installed at less than 7 meters from the water surface, if not meet this requirement, have to use submersible pumps, such as deep wells. Submersible pump is obviously not good, easy to malfunction, have to use.Self-priming pump is mainly convenient, but the performance is lower than the general centrifugal pump. There are both advantages and disadvantages at the same time, which is not easy to use.The key is where to use and how many parameters............
Q:How do you know if the water pump on a car is bad?
You probably need a new radiator, they become restricted and do not allow enough water to pass through to efficiently cool the engine.
Q:New water pump and radiator for 2000 Jeep Cherokee?
Could be both. The water pump may have been leaking. Did the leak stop after the work was done? If so then it was leaking. The radiator may just have lived out it's life. Corrosion will eventually cause these types of things. I don't know where you're located but $600 for a water pump is a rip off. Maybe you went to the dealer? If it's not under a warranty and you're not buying a new one the jeep does not belong at the dealership. I recently did my water pump on my 94. $100 including new hoses and about 45 minutes. So even parts mark up and $60 labor should have been about $210 or so. For the radiator they are about $150 again depending on where you are. See if you can get a 3 core. More cooling capacity almost the same price. If you're around Maryland e-mail me and I can help you do it yourself.
Q:How to rebiuld a water pump?
Don't bother. Water pumps fail on this motor all the time and replacements are plentiful and cheaper than dirt. I won't even use rebuilt water pumps in my shop - we only install new ones because they are much more reliable and the cost difference is literally only a couple of bucks.
