Slip resistance:
Boards of Techwoodn according to ASTM D2394-05. This is the best ranking for bare-foot slip resistance.
Weathering resistance:
Boards of Techwoodn have very low moisture uptake.This is key for mold and mildew resistance.
UV resistance:
4000 hours accelerated Xenon-arc Exposure,the Boards turned slightly more clear and colored.
Abrasion resistance:
The resistance to abrasion is similar to oak.
Fungus resistance:
Whatever fungus the wood composite is exposed to,it is extremely durable.
Moreover,aging test does not affect this durability.

- Q:can I? or can i just stain a floor darker? how do i stain a floor is it toxic?
- I'm thinking you're talking real wood flooring? Yes you can. Rent a professional type sander and sand all flooring until all present stain has been removed. Be sure to wear a mask and cover anything that's possible to cover as it can be a pretty messy job. However, I don't think it's anything you can't handle. After all old stain has been removed, be sure to wipe down with a damp cloth even if you have to do this a few times. You don't want any old sand left behind. You can either put a clear coat over flooring so it shows the natural color of the wood flooring or use a light stain. You may need a protective coat over stain, but you can ask about this at any hardware store that you'll be dealing with. There may be toxin's in stains, but I'm not sure about this. Another question to ask before starting your project. One way or the other wear a mask and you should be just fine.
- Q:I have just primed a wood floor and want to stencil it. After the priming do I paint the entire floor the background color then stencil?. What do I use for the final coat(s) to protect the floor and the stenciling?
- Whenever you paint a floor, it is recommended to use an epoxy-based paint - it will adhere better and suffer much less wear and tear over time because it is more durable. Although, truth be known, I have used acrylic paints with no problems. Presuming you're using a simple stencil pattern to be applied on a solid-coloured background, your next step is to paint the background colour. Two coats should do the trick. Let it dry thoroughly before stencilling over it. Stencilling should be done with a stencil brush - a round brush with a perfectly flat tip. The paint should be thinly applied in a dabbing motion - do not brush it on. The reason for this, aside from the finished look, is that when you brush paint on it is more likely to get under your stencil and make a mess. If you're using more than one colour, you might want to cover the areas on the stencil for all but one colour with masking tape, and let each colour dry before moving on to the next. When you're all done, you could apply a clear coat. The oil or alkyd-based clear coats have a tendency to yellow slightly over time and take quite a while to dry. The water based clear coats won't hold over oil-based paint or emulsion. Check with your local paint supplier to find out which finishing product is best based on the paints you have used. Alternately, depending on the style you are going for, if you have used a durable enough paint, you might want to skip the clear coat so that over time you will have a nice aged and worn-in look to the floor. - Go to the $1 shop and buy a new mop and floor cleaner for it. Stop using the old dirty ones at the hospital. You'll be amazed by how much cleaner the floors with be by using new stuff. Greg.

- I can only tell you how I do mine, I use Mr. clean lemon scent and a micro fiber flat mop. I wash the whole floor and them rinse the mop head real well and then again go over the floor with clean warm water. That's it.
- Q:I recently just got put on a quiet floor (not at my request), and was wondering what the quiet floors at your school were like. For me, the quiet period begins at 7pm and ends at 10 am. What I'm hoping to happen is that the majority of the residents will decide that they don't want it to be a quiet floor. Some extra questions:Were the quiet floors enforced well?Did people on the quiet floor actually want quiet?Was it fun? (probably not)
- My friend was the RA of the quiet floor last year. Trust me, she enforced quiet hours, even when her friends visited her. Her residents had fun though. They weren't drunk and partying at 3 in the morning on the floor. But they still hung out, played video games, talked, went out, etc. If you don't want to live on the quiet floor, see if you can switch to a different floor.

- Q:I am thinking about putting cork flooring in my kitchen and bathroom. Cork is supposed to be water resistant, but I'm not sure about that. It's also suppose to be low maintenance. Does any one out there have cork flooring, and what do you have to say about it.
- Newer cork flooring is much higher density than the old stuff. Still it does scratch and tear so I would not use it if you are hard on floors. I would not recommend for bathrooms. It is water resistant but not waterproof. I like cork floors for the looks and acoustic properties. I would not use it in my home but that is because with the boys and two dogs it would not be practical. I owned a janitorial service for many years. In the 1970's several clients had cork floors. There were not many companies that knew how to maintain them. In one office building the floor had been installed in 1948 and was still good. Newer cork is compressed to make it harder and more wear resistant and is usually finished with polymers or urethanes for for water resistance, wear and maintainability.
