- You'll need to rent a floor polisher. I actually clean the marble floor where I work. What we do is use a marble polish that looks somewhat like wet sand. We mix the polish with some water, put it on the floor, and use a low/medium speed floor buffer with a medium pad to polish the floor. We then squeegee most of the polish up and use a wet vacuum to get the rest. Next, we mop the floor (alot!) to get the left over polish. Lastly, (after the floor is dry) we use a high speed buffer with a light or medium pad to shine it up. Talk to the person you rent the polisher from, and be sure to read and follow the directions on the polish. It can be a lot of work (particularily prep work, such as moving furniture, taping/covering carpets, etc.) but the reward is totally worth it. Good luck!

- A 50 floor office building will always have a basement for parking or if not, it will be having a podium which might be around 4 to 5 levels. The ground floor also should be higher than the typical floor. Say: 1. Ground floor averages around 4.5 to 6m level 2. Podium averages from 3.1 to 4m level 3. Typical floors from 2.7 to 3.1m level Hence: GF = 4.5 Podium 3.1 x 5 = 15.5m typical floors = 2.7 x 44 = 138.8m say 140m from the Ground floor level (minimum)

- Boo, you don't want to use felt paper. The vapor barrier that is sold at flooring stores comes in different grade levels. The lowest grade (or thickness) runs about .27 cents per square foot. These products are specifically designed for this application and they are the best products to use. When you say poly sheet vapor barrier are you talking of just about regular poly (ie:plastic)? If you are forget that idea. Moisture will get trapped under the floor and eventually ruin it from the bottom up. Like most people that are budgeted on projects, you want to save where you can. This is not one of them.

- Depends on what kind of flooring you want to put down. Carpet would be the easiest. Nail track around the edge. Roll out underlay. Roll out carpet. Stretch it , cut it , and you are done. Laminate is pretty easy, too Ceramic tile will need an extra layer of plywood to keep it from flexing. Takes a lot of time to lay tile, and can be messy. Lino is probably the most difficult. Best to stick to carpet

- A dance floor has to be sprung in order to reduce impact on jumps and reduce the risk of you getting hurt. The more modern floors have a basketweave pattern under the surface. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprung_floor I don't know if the mats will work or not, I haven't heard of anyone doing this.

- I thought a floating floor was a good way to do a basement and means the floor is slightly elevated off the slab. This way heating or cooling and electronic cabling , and wiring for outlets. (computers esp)can be run under the floor rather than through concrete walls. It is a platform system that can be covered with a number of materials. compartment doors allow access to cabling. If they are calling pergo type flooring floating flooring now...I do not see how having a basement with finished surfaces is a bad thing.
