My favorite method for cleaning carpets involves renting a carpet machine for the weekend, NOT buying the cleaner that they offer, and instead using lemon scented ammonia and plain vinegar with hot water in the cleaning machine. This is a very clean rinsing formula that will cut grime and pet odors without damaging the carpet. New padding is a must but you can clean the carpets and then pull them outside to dry while you replace the padding and mop the underfloor with the sudsy ammonia and vinegar mix. 2 cups ammonia 2 cups vinegar 1 full tank of hot water on the carpet machine Please remember! Keep all bleach and bleaching products away from the ammonia! Once the carpets and floor are dry the ammonia is dispersed and you will not have to worry about a negative chemical reaction in the future.

Q:So in one room of my house, the carpet is ****** up. Long story short bleach stains were better than blood stains, so one corner is all discolored while other areas have Kool Aid stains or just dirty. The room is roughly 15'x15', so around 225 sqft. You can secure it with double sided carpet tape if you are concerned about creep. The home improvement centers sell it and it works very well to secure the area rug I have under my dining room table. Viscose rayon would indeed be a good choice in an area with chair traffic, food and beverages. It won't hold stains or smells like wool does, will be easier to clean than silk and is better quality fiber than nylon. If the flooring that it is going over is hardwood or ceramic tile, you can also purchase a non-skid underlayment that will protect your floors and stop creep. Go for it and enjoy!

If you mean wall to wall carpeting, you just have to check at carpet stores until you find the colour you want. They might or might not have every colour in stock but you can look at their samples. If you mean an area rug, it will be really hard to find. I looked for a teal-tone area rug for a couple of years until I found one at Ikea. You can have carpet off a roll cut to size and bound on the edges, too, for an area rug.

Depends if your horse is going to live out all year, or in on a night, whether it's clipped etc etc. As you are getting a foal, don't buy anything too expensive as it's going to grow out of it pretty quickly. You'll need a waterproof rug for outside and a stable rug for inside. It also depends where you live, what sort of weather you tend to get, if there is good shelter in the field. You can get different weights for rugs, a bit like tog rating on a duvet. Don't get one to warm as it can make a horse soft, the main thing is to prevent the worst of the weather getting onto your horse.

Q:Has anyone ever tried using oxyclean or any other cleaner that would work good or produce the same results as with the Rug Doctor cleaners?

Problem being! Most rug cleaning machines can't handle sud's. If oxyclean sud's up it can destroy the machine. I don't know about mixing them...I have...used Downy in those machines to soften my rug and get rid of static.
