Q: I have a 1999 Chrysler LHS. Recently, the water pump started leaking and it ruined the timing belt. I brought it to a mechanic that I've never used before, so I have no idea how reliable they are. They now told me that my brake lines blew. Can the leaking water pump also cause brake lines to rot?
i doubt that the antifreeze would make the brake lines leak ! those are steel brake lines and if they can stand up against road salt then antifreeze won,t hurt them ! if a brake line started to leak then it was rotted !
Q: So I need to make a human powered water pump... Does anyone know how to make one? Any websites that could show me would be nice.MORE DETAILS:The pump is on the ground...it needs to pump water from a reservoir into another reservoir that is two meters high and two metres across from where the pump is... The pump needs to be handheld too. What should I use and any good plans on how to make it?
The simplest manual pump is the lever-arm pump. This is just an elongated cylindrical reservoir, a valve casing, and a pump chamber in a linear arrangement. A piston within the pump chamber is connected to a link, and a handle which is used to pump the water. You can make a simple one by converting an ordinary bicycle pump. Attach an input hose to the air inlet, and an output hose to the pressurized air output for the tire. A good way to develop plans on how to make it would be to visit your local sporting shop or auto parts shop and look over their pumps. .
Q: NEED WATER PUMP AND HOSES, AND A PRICE QUOTE...
I have found AUTO ZONE to be my favorite, price, product, and availability! They have knowledgeable people and an online repair guide.
Q: How do I tell the difference between a long and a short water pump? I have a Chevy 350 V8, a crate motor the same size is going in very soon. How do I tell which one I have so that I can get the correct brackets, accessories, etc.?
Dude's lengths are incorrect.. The short pump is 5-5/8'' long and the long neck pump is 7'' long . That's with a V belt short block chevy....
Q: What does the lift of a pump mean?
The pump lifts water from the surface to the highest point, such as a submersible pump working below the surface of the water. The pump head is still applied to the water level, not the water pump.
Q: 2 pumps in parallel, lift the same, the pump head is not stacked; 2 pumps in series, the same flow, pump head is not superimposed?.
2 pumps parallel, lift the same, pump head is not stacked?;Answer: the head can not be superimposed, that is, a lift and a pump, but the pumping speed (flow) is two times a taiwan.2 pumps in series, the same flow, pump head is not stacked?.Answer: the head can be superimposed, that is, the pump head is two times as much as a pump, but the pump speed is the same as that of a pump.
Q: how much would they charge me to change a water pump on my 1999 cadillac deville
well.... if the fuel was pumping before it ran out of gas, it probably pumps still... the pump wont stop pumping just because it ran out of gas.. but... if you do run out of gas, you WILL get AIR in the lines, and it COULD keep the car from starting because of a bubble somewhere in the lines that won't allow fuel to pass. hard to explain. Diesels have this problem a lot more than EFI cars do, but it can still be an issue. try going out there and turning the key on and off about a dozen times, but not trying to START the car.. every time you turn the key, you should hear a mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm sound from the back of the car. that's your FUEL PUMP priming. if you DONT hear the humming sound (which does stop after about 2 seconds) then your fuel pump isn't working. let it prime a few times. when there is too much pressure, a separate line pushes fuel back to the tank.. it SHOULDNT be that big of a problem, but i'm not sure about that exact car.. i have a feeling it's a northstar v8 or something, and those are notorious for sucking donkey nuts.
Q: My truck turned off by itself and a bunch of steam and smoke came out and my radiator was dry. To keep it running i had to have the engine revved and at a stop sign hold the brake down. and slightly press. I'm assuming its the water pump however. It started yesterday as the colder weather started. What my question is what do you think it is and if you have experience with water pumps, how hard is it to replace i found one for $14
that don,t sound like the water pump. if it was the pump then it would overheat and leak out. check to see where it,s leaking at. if it,s leaking from the pump then it will have to be changed even though it still might not help it to idle. it,s not really that hard to change the pump on a 351W . the hardest part is getting into it. you might have to remover some stuff so you can work. the belt and water pump pulley will have to come off and the fan but that should let you into the bolts.
Q: Installation position of check valve for water pump
Check valves are generally installed at the pump outlet and exit control valve position. Self suction pump check valve installed in front of the pump, suction port better!Ordinary centrifugal pump check valve flange from the pump outlet flange is generally 300mm-500mm, its purpose is: when the pump is stopped, to prevent backflow of water to the pump body in the pipeline, resulting in the impeller reversal (generally positive rotation is more impeller impeller and shaft tight) that damage the impeller and pump head. Therefore, the height can not be too high, too high, there are too many water reflux, the consequences can be imagined. But there are self suction pumps, self suction pumps, check valves, flanges, pumps from the body, the outlet flange generally 1 meters to 1.5 meters. This is determined by the structure and working conditions of the self-priming pump. Self suction pump start, the pump is a gas at first, the main purpose is to exhaust the rotation of the impeller, will also play out some of the water, this time need to exhaust gas, water will need to return, if the valve is installed in the 300mm-500mm, then a lot of water can not return to the pump body (can also cause check valve is closed), effect of self suction pump work.Self suction pump check valve installed in the suction port of the pump better, this is not upstairs nine, brother said, must be installed in the export, this is wrong. Installed in the inlet of the purpose: it is time to stop the pump, there is generally no reversal of pump impeller, but to prevent the pipeline inside emptying (fluid inside the pipe can be in pipe) is beneficial to the self suction pump for a restart! Therefore, the self-priming pump check valve is best installed in the inlet pipe of the suction port.
Q: Ok, I took my '93 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L in to get the serpentine belt replaced, as the old one had snapped. They told me that the water pump had locked up and that's what made the belt break. The thing is, I had to get the radiator and water pump replaced this past summer and I am wondering what might've made my water pump lock up since it is new. The Jeep has a lot of miles and I'm slowly having to fix a lot of things, so I'm trying to be sure that I don't fix the pump just to find another problem. Also, the repair place told me the water pump looks brand new, so I know that it was definitely replaced, but should I contact the place the fixed the pump and radiator and see if there's some sort of warranty on the pump?
I have a '93 Cherokee too. So I can answer any question you have about it. Water pump failure is caused be bad seal or bearings. Since it locked up, your bearings were the problem. Maybe the belt was too tight? At any rate, before you give all of your money away on any more probs, give me a ring, K. BTW, I changed my water pump out last month. It was an Autozone special w/lifetime warranty. Since it was a replacement, I didn't pay a dime. Contact me via email with any more Jeep probs and I'll walk you through it. Water pumps on '93 Cherokees are tightened throught the Power Steering pump mounting bracket, no tensioner. Replacements is considerably more than a simple belt swap. You must remove the clutch and elec fan to access the water pump bolts. I had to unbolt the A/C compressor and move it out of way. It took me about 4 hours to do the waterpump and thermostat. Not for the faint of heart. But if you are willing to save a few bucks and have access to a few tools, it's all pretty easy.
