Q: I have replaced the presure switch on my water pump but it switches on and off when it is building up presure instead on staying on until it gets to right presure.Any ideas of what is causing this?
RW is partially right you need to check the pressure switch which is the little black or greay box with the wires running in and out.It should say either 20/40 or 30/50 the pressure needs to be 2 pounds less than the lower number.Turn off the water and bleed the tank down then adjust he air with a tire pump and an air gauge
Q: Every year my family spends a week on a house boat at Lake Powell where it can get extremely hot in the day time. I'd like to build a mist system using pvc pipes and mist spray heads to help cool us down.I'm not sure what kind of water pump to buy? I've looked at different kinds from submersible to non-submersible, all with different amounts of PSI and GPM. I am not familiar with water pumps and could use some community insight.I want to make sure the pump I get does not burn out because of the back pressure it will get due to the mist heads only allowing a little water to escape at a time.I imagine my mist system would have 8 - 12 heads, reaching no more then 30 feet from water source to the end.Any pointers? Thanks!
I am assuming your water source will be the lake …. I would be looking at a submersible pump possibly a pond pump but you need to know what the “lift” is going to be …from the point where you string the mister to the pump {possibly a 15 foot lift} and a pump that will give you at least 25psi. Because you are going to have back pressure, the submersible will reduce the risk of burn out. Also you need to build a simple enclosed container this pump can sit in, with at least a 4”water inlet hole covered with mosquito netting, nylon hosiery, or something to filter the water….otherwise you will constantly be removing the mister heads to clean
Q: What is the easiest way to remove a water pump?
drain radiator. remove both 21mm motor mount bolts from subframe (front and rear). drain radiator. remove overflow/washer bottle. remove drive belt. remove 8mm bolt that hold lower watertube to front cover. remove lower water tube from water pump. remove heater hoses from water pump. slightly lift engine with floor jack. remove water pump pully. remove water pump. if you still cant get it you will need to remove the 4 studs that go through the water pump. now its just that easy to do
Q: quot;A tank has the shape of an inverted circular cone (point at the bottom) with height 10 feet and radius 4 feet. The tank is full of water. We pump out water (to a pipe at the top of the tank) until the water level is 5 feet from the bottom. The work W required to do this is given byquot;I know how to find it if it's a right circular cylinder, but how do I adjust for the changing area? Also would a and b = 0 and 5? Thanks ahead of time!
calculate the amount of water U start with by computing volume of cone: V = 1/3πr?h {r = 4', h = 10'} V = 0.333π(4)?(10) = 167.55 ft? calculate the amount of water remaining in cone after pumping is done: V = 0.333π(2)?(5) = 20.944 ft? calculate the volume of water pumped: 167.55 - 20.944 = 146.6 ft? 1 ft? of water weighs 62.4 lb, calculate weight of water removed: 146.6(62.4) = 9148 lbs The Center of Mass of the water in the cone (when h = 10') is at 1/4 of 10 ft = 2.5 ft high The Center of Mass of the water in the cone (when h = 5') is at 1/4 of 5 ft = 1.25 ft height The Center of C.of M. change = 1.25 + (2.5 - 1.25)/2 = 1.25+0.625 = 1.875 ft If we consider that the Center of Mass of the water removed was at 1.875 ft, All the water removed was then lifted an average of 10 - 1.875 = 8.125 ft Work done = W = (9148)(8.125) = 74,300 ft-lbs ANS
Q: I'm going on a week long hiking trip and need safe water. What brand and model of water filter/pump should i get? Whats good quality for a low price?
For okorder /
Q: i have a significant stream of water running out of the coolant return side of the engine under the coolant pipe on a 1997 caravan i will lose a gallon and then it stops until the engine heats up and of course more comes out with expansion
oh boy i think u have to take the timing belt , matterof factchange the timming belt too , it should be cheaper since it's already open, check pepboys autozone, murray's , they would give u a diagram for it
Q: The difference between submersible pumps and centrifugal pumps
The two are different ways of distinguishing.Centrifugal pump is in accordance with the impeller type of a pump, that is, centrifugal pump impeller is centrifugal.Submersible pump refers to its working environment is underwater, it is divided by the application environment, it can also be centrifugal pump or axial flow pump or mixed flow pump, the key is to see what kind of impeller is.Submersible pump motor is required to dive, that is, the motor protection level is relatively high, generally more than IP68 in order to dive.
Q: I have a 2002 Honda Civic Ex sedan with about 105k miles. Sometime before 110k I need to get the timing belt replaced. At about 95k my mechanic asked if I wanted to replace the timing belt and the water pump. According to the owners manual the timing belt must be replaced, but it simply says check the water pump.I don't want to pay for unnecessary repairs, but I also know that both of these jobs are quite involved, but can be done together fairly easily. Is there anything I can do to check myself or do I just have to trust my mechanic when I take it in. Also, what is the cost difference between the timing belt job and adding in the water pump at the same time?
If you're going to have the timing belt changed you might as well change the water pump at the same time - it would take about the same amount of effort and cash in the future to just replace the water pump alone if it goes bad. On a Honda with over 100k miles, it's just a matter of time before the water pump goes - so I'd say that it's a good idea to change it now, even if it's not showing any signs of failure. You'd just end up paying for the work twice if you don't do it now - assuming that you're planning on keeping the car for a while. I'm not sure how much a water pump would cost for your car, but you could look it up on the web - additional labor costs to install it during the timing belt change would be minimal.
Q: I would like to know that a water pump or water motor which is of 1 hp what is the height from which it can pull water ? And also if there is a bubbling sound of air and no water is being supplied what does it mean ?
I will 'clarify' the question, then respond----- If you have a 1HP motor connected to a water pump,; what is its lifting capability ? (like raising the water UP from a well)... At or neat 'sea level', the very ideal (perfect) pump can lift water UP from 33 feet below. To be practical, considering in-efficiencies(losses) you should plan for about 25 feet of lift. Gurgling or bubbling of air/water is a good sign that the pump can not generate the vaccum-seal to begin the flow of water(priming process). You need to provide a way to prime the pump. To prime the pump, you need to supply a flow of water INTO the pump as it is running(water must be running backward into the well, then the pump will initiate the lifting process. To prevent the need to prime the pump everytime that you turn it on, you should put a check valve at the INTAKE orifice (the very end that sticks in the well). This will hold the column of water in the pipe; preventing it from running back into the well. (A check valve allows fluid to flow in one direction only....this must be connected such that the water can only flow UPWARD, out of the well. Good luck.....if you need further assistance, do email with more pump detail/specs. Make sure that the pump is rotating in the correct direction......
