- Q: Whats the best air intake type ?
- The best air intake type is usually the one that comes on the car. All cars are made with a cold air intake and putting aftermarket intakes on any car, just uses your money and you might get a nicer sounding car but they will not give you any extra power or mpg saving. My opinion is CAIs are a waste of good money.
- Q: Do cold air intakes allow you to boost mpg? Or do they just increase your horsepower and make you waste more gasoline?
- Cold air is denser - it allows for more fuel to be mixed with the air while still maintaining the desired air/fuel mixture ratio - roughly 14.7:1. Needless to say, that's why race cars typically run quicker on a cool evening than under the mid day sun. Whether this will translate into a noticeable increase in MPG's - I doubt that it would be an appreciable difference in real world, around town driving - but, hey, it will make more horsepower and it certainly won't hurt the overall fuel economy.
- Q: Looking to buy an exhaust system on my honda 2001 LX civic, but I have only 200 dollars.I dont want it to sound like a Pissed off bumblebee ---- if that makes sense ;)Or should I buy a decent cold air intake?Either way, Ill have the both of these within a month. But which first. What kind should I get.which exhausT?
- if the car is automatic, don't waste your money on either. if you're serious about performance, then get the intake first. you only have $200 and a decent exhaust system upgrade costs way more than that. you should do some more MINOR tweaking under the hood before springing cash for the exhaust so that when you do get it, you'll notice somewhat of a difference. its funny.i have a 2006 lx; if you and i had an opportunity to get our hands on a turbo charged ride or a turborcharger, WE WOULD HAVE ONE. but we don't. whether it's due to financial reasons or whatever, we're just trying to make do with what we have. i personally would be happy from a 7-12hp gain- even if it's not all at the wheel. it's a start. it's a project. it's hoping that one day i'll be able to get that turbo (if they even make it) and create a decent sleeper. if your ideals are similar to mine, the car is stick, and you really are into or want to be into tuning, then don't get discouraged and get the intake for starters. besides, that's where most people on limited budgets start anyway.
- Q: I drive a 07 wrangler rubicon. I‘m looking to put some new performance parts under the hood but I‘m kinda in a bind. I‘m looking to get a K N air filter and a helix power tower throttle body. But for the past couple of weeks I have been questioning myself if this is the best way to get great results. Any feedback on anything would be great. Money is no problem and if anyone has any other stuff that they recommend that would be cool too.
- Well I DEFINATELY wouldn't put the helix in there as they are performance hinderers, proven dyno after dyno after dyno. I've seen drops as high as 6hp due to putting those things on. Look and see if they make any headers or anything for your car, that's where I would start anyway.
- Q: I was recommended to check out ebay‘s selection on cold air filters for my 2000 honda civic ex. so when i looked i was surprised that the packages were ALOT cheaper than i thought ranging from like 15$ to maybe 300$ or so. are these lower priced ones even worth buying? cause the shipping charges cost more! haha. but if they arent worth it, can you recommend a place to get a decent brand of cold air intake within reasonable price for a college kid? Thanks so much
- the least expensive ones are still a great instant HP increase! the only difference from an inexpensive CAI such as Vibrant to an expensive Injen or AEM is the way they are built. The less expensive ones are just self explanatory, you have a tube with a new filter whala more HP no custom pipe or anything,, but it works! Now for a more well built intake you can see the difference in an AEM For example the way they are shaped sometimes like a honda. the regular intake will be getting warm air because it will be near a hot engine. aem fixes the problem with making the tube shape so it can reach all the way into the front bumper where it will get more cooler denser air now for the pipe size. aem creates a pipe size that is suite able for low rmp and high rmp and there is a intake pipe with both small inlet size combined with a more greater inlet size for increase horsepower in low rmp and high rmp! basically a person that is gng to race will spend the extra money other wise a lower cheaper intake works! and not to make fun of vibrant cuz i use a vibrant intake! I HOPE I HELPED! GOOD LUCK MAN! oh and btw for a college kid you can buy a great vibrant at vibrantperformancedotcom or make it your self at your local autozone because a KN or an Injen or AEM are gng to be expensive for a 2000 civic
- Q: i know there is Cold Air Intake.anymore?!!
- yes it is-but you were the one busted-tough luck sorry
- Q: On a 2004 g35 coupe , How much horses would it add , a kn one.
- It's not the wiper motor. There's only one motor and so if one wiper works the motor is fine. There is a fairly simple mechanical linkage between the two wipers, and some part of that has broken. This should be a cheap and easy fix, so don't let your mechanic rip you off. If you're really brave, it's the sort of thing you can take care of with basic tools and a trip to your local junkyard. Good luck with it and let us know how you get on.
- Q: I am going to buy a cold air intake for 95 honda accord ex vtec sohc, but am having a hard time deciding on which cold air system to buy, I am buying it for the sole purpose to improve gas mileage. I don‘t care about speed, torque, rpms or whatever, just lowering my gas bill.i have looked at articles saying cold air intakes don‘t really improve anything because they have to be at roughly 5k-6k rpm to increase performance, which i understand completely. I never hit that high of rpms in my car, i just cruise in my tuner. So, seasoned vets thats have cold air systems in your cars, i call on you, what setup would be best to achieve higher mpg in my car???? again, i want MPG not HP hahaha
- Factory air-boxes are way better than most aftermarket cold air intakes. The engineers at the factory didn't spend all that time designing the intake to suck air from the fender, hood, or some other location outside of the engine bay just for hell of it. The only disadvantage of factory intakes is air flow. They are usually pretty restrictive. So if you get an aftermarket intake, and suck the air from outside the engine bay, you are most certainly going to see an increase in power. Every 10* temp change is equal to 1HP! So if you're cooling the air at the manifold by 50*-100*, that's 5-10HP. Doesn't seem like a whole lot, but a true 5-10Hp is quite a bit, and it's a lot more when combined with other aftermarket mods.
- Q: I want to know more about cold air intake??? Could one of you describe in detail what it exactly is???
- cold air intake is just like the factory intake. pulls cold air from outside of the engine compartment versus pulling the hot air inside the engine compartment. a bunch of the OKorder intakes you see are actually hot air intakes haha. they have the filter right inside the engine compartment where all the heat is. factory intakes are very restrictive and have silencers, etc on them for noise purposes but they do on the large part pull air from the fenderwell area where air is colder. cold air intakes are normally just section of 3 pipe that replace the factory intake filter setup but in order to be a true cold air intake they need to have the filter outside of the engine compartment.not over in the corner.
- Q: what is an air intake system?
- I 100% agree with Noahs and Avas mommy. That is all my kids wore in the summer. Onsies are easy and comfortable for baby. I would get a few cutsie ourfits for when yall go out somewhere. Congratulations and best of luck.
