Hi The type of rugs you buy depends on your climate, whether she is clipped and whether she will live in or out. A full neck turnout rug is ideal particularly if she's clipped. I usually start to rug up on 1st October. A light fleece if stabled is ideal to begin with. As it gets colder a slightly heavier quilted rug is ideal. A few lighter layers are often better than one heavy rug, that way you can remove or add layers. For outdoors you will need to make sure you always have replacements to ensure she always has a dry turnout rug. I like the weatherbeeta range. To prevent any rubbing on her chest, always put a vest on under her rugs. A tip... arabs don't particularly get a heavy winter coat, but if she's not to be clipped but worked in winter, rug her up well to keep her warm (not too warm). The extra layers will prevent too much winter hair growth. My irish draft did not like being clipped and his rugs kept his winter growth to a minimum so he was still able to work comfortably in winter without undue sweating. I hope this helps you. What color is the carpet? When we moved into our apartment there used to be an overly darkish brown stain within the center of the purple carpet. We'd had the carpets wiped clean however it remained. according to the size of the rug, place cookie sheets with water in them around the edges. cats hate water and will turn away from the rug. they wont forget and you will have your rug back.

carpet always smells like a wet dog. lol You can rent the rug doctor again but this time when after you shampoo... rinse with vinegar water. this will help remove soap residue and help keep your carpet from picking up more dirt that sticks to soap.

synthetic water proof rugs are great! I clip horses and have a few myself! New Zealand is a little different in climate, but anyways, here is what you need to consider.... What kind of clip the horse will have, this is generally govened by workload. More hair removal = more rugs, of cause! How often you can attend to your horse. Natural fibres are more breathable, so wool under rugs are a good option. Wool aslo stays warm if they get wet, synthetic rugs can be a bit sweaty on milder days. Wool however, can cause more rubs, anti rub vests are advised. Extra blankets at night, and remove one during the day. Some horses naturally feel the cold more than others, Some will only need a heavy 300g fill waterproof cover, others may need extra.. such as an additional 220g underrug with neck rug, day and night, or just for night. Some may even need a third rug if fully clipped out. You will be better to wing it and learn as you go once you have your horse. Budget for the worst and hope for the best ! Hope that helps !

Q:I am concerned that using the commonly available tapes will damage the underlying carpet. Specifically, if I used carpet tape to attach my rugs to my carpet, if I decide to remove the rugs and tape will my under carpet not be damaged? I appreciate any ideas. Thanks!
