- Q: my carpet smells like cat pee, but i know my cat doesnt pee on my floor. My family is the original owners of our house and she is the only cat that has been in this house. how would i get the smell out of my carpet and if for some reason she is peeing on the carpet how would i get her to stop? also i thought it could be the smell of dust but i vacuum, how would i get my carpet to stop smelling?
- Clean the carpet with White Vinegar to remove the urine smell. The smell of the vinegar will take 2-3 hours to go away. Or at the pet shop, get a black light which will show you where the urine spots are on the carpet. Then use enzyme cleaner, also found at the pet shop,to clean the carpet. White vinegar costs about $2. while the enzyme cleaner costs around $15. If the cat isn't fixed this will cause the cat to pee on the floor/carpet elsewhere. So get the cat fixed if not yet done. A unirary tract infection will also cause the cat to lose control to pee on the carpet. If the cat is stressed it will pee on the carpet.

- It is warm but just throw a lightweight on to keep her dry. It's just nicer for them to have a bit of protection from this horrid rain. My gypsy cob and my tb have lightweights on and they're not too hot. It's tricky this time of yr!

- If you are going to clip the horse then absolutely it will need a rug. Depending on what you are doing with it as far as excercise goes maybe it will even need two rugs and a neck rug. In the summer time if you are doing lot of excercise or if you are living in a place where the flies are bad (which is most of Australia) then a light summer sheet might be useful too. Horses are pretty adaptable and will grow long hair in the winter to keep themselves warm but just remember this, if you decide not to rug your horse in the winter you will have to spend more money on food for the horse because it will be using all its energy to keep warm and may struggle to put on weight. If you do not rug then DO NOT clip. That would be cruel! Hope this helps.

- If you go to your local grocery store (price chopper, Hannafords, shop rite, etc.) Sometimes you can rent carpet cleaners or if you go to a bed bath and beyond or linens and things you can buy a carpet cleaner. - Q: I've just moved into a beautiful older home (125 years) and, although it's been recently re-wired, there just isn't always an outlet where I need it. I live with my elderly mother and do not want to take a chance that she might trip over a cord. When I do short tasks like ironing or vacuuming, can I slip the excessive cord under a rug so that she will not encounter it with her feet. She is absolutely sure that I'll burn the house down - and she's incredibly intelligent, but I'd like to hear from a real fire prevention expert.Thank you for your expertise - I think that safety is essential - paranoia is a bit much, though!
