Q:A horizontal current-carrying wire, free to move in Earth’s gravitational field, is suspended directly above a second, parallel, current-carrying wire. (a) In what direction is the current in the lower wire? (b) Can the upper wire be held in stable equilibrium due to the magnetic force of the lower wire? Explain.I assume they travel in opposite directions if they are both charged the same, but I think my instructor wants something more specific. Any help is much appreciated.
Current carrying wire does not have extra charge but only flow So there is no electrostatic force between them. The magnetic force is present only when current flows through both wires. If it flows in the same direction then they attract. So if the lower wire is fixed and you wish to suspend the above it must repel it to overcome the gravitational force due to earth acting on it. Hence the wires must carry currents in opposite direction.
Q:What Spark Plugs and Wires would optimize my MPG? 2000 Bonneville SSEI
AC Delco plugs wires. Using substandard low end aftermarket cheap junk doesnt help your vehicle at all also replacing spark plugs wires really doesnt improve your MPG unless its misfiring badly
Q:What causes signal Loss and Distortion in Copper Wire?
Sonayan kidher the tiger wen, India ya Pakistan? Anyways, White noise and electromagnetic radiation interfernces are the key causes of signal loss and distortion. Any loose connections may also reduce the signal quality, often caculated in decibels.
Q:How does this work? Does the missile drag a wire?
The Ruhrstahl X-4 was the first wire guided air-to-air missile and was designed by Germany during World War II. The missile was stabilized by spinning it slowly in flight, at about 60 rpm. This meant that any asymmetrical thrust from the engine, or inaccuracies in the control surfaces, would be evened out as the missile spun. Signals were sent to the missile over two wires that were wound onto spools on the missile body, and corrected the direction of flight by operating control surfaces on the tail. A gyroscope kept track of up so that the control inputs from the pilot's joystick in the launch aircraft would be translated into yaw and pitch even as the missile rolled. Flares attached to two of the mid-section wings were used to keep the missile visible through the smoke of its engine. The missile had a range of 4Km
Q:Should I just buy normal speaker wire for wiring my subs together inside my box?? With positive and negative and then pull the wire apart and use only 1 of the wires? Also is 10 gauge good for this if my subs are 600 RMS a piece and my amp is 1180 birthsheet RMS...2 Kicker L5 12sAlpine PDX-1.1000
well speaker wire inside the box i never would wire them together but 10 gauge sounds ok but just buy an amp wireing kit and it will give you proper wires just to be safe make sure all your wires can handel the power other wise it will burn the wires up yes you should pull the apart cause it wont sound right i usaly do is like the wires i buy have a white stripe on them i use that 1 as a ground wire so i know whic 1 is what
Q:which color is the positive and negative wires on the speakers of a 1993 F-150 one is red and one is black..
door speaker wires 150
Q:i know nothing about wire. thanks. :|
Solder wire has a lower melting point, allowing you to melt it onto something else. In it's wire form, it will also snap very easily. (not good for fastening things together). Mechanical wire (I'm assuming electrical wire), is designed to withstand high temperatures (and hence, electrical currents), and are usually be bent much more. It's also usually sheilded in rubber (e.g. electrical cords, computer cables, coxial (tv) cable, etc).
Q:I'm replacing the door speakers in a 2001 Coupe Camaro with the factory sound system. I needed to know which wire was positive and which was negative so I bought a circuit tester. However, I keep getting the reading that both wires are positive. What could be causing this? I know the circuit tester works because I tested it on the battery terminals and it worked fine.
You cannot use a circuit tester on speaker wires. It is not the correct tester. All you have to do is look at factory speaker it's marked positive and negative.
Q:I recently purchased a 1-wire alternator and I'm not sure what to do with the wire harness that was on my stock alternator. Also not sure what the three wires on it go to. Can anyone experienced in alternator wiring tell me what these wires do and if it is ok to leave them unhooked?
Connect the existing larger wire to the stud with the 7/16 nut. That goes straight to the battery+. Use a test light to find the smaller wire that goes hot with the ignition on.That goes to the terminal marked f or field. That turns the alternator on and off so it doesn't drain the battery when the engine is off. The other terminal on the alternator is to the gauge or light.
Q:I have some salvaged wire from a computer power supply and would like to know it's break-down voltage rating. Most hookup wire is rated at 600 volts but unfortunately, all computer stuff is now made in China. The repair job of a vintage piece of equipment requires wire that can withstand 300 VAC.
Computer power supply cables do not deliver anything like 300 volts, so I would say no, don't risk it.
