Q: We lost power during the hurricane, we have well water. the power went out and we lost water also, what are the procedures to bleed and restart a goulds pumps c48a93a06 water pump?: 1. you are going to need at least a couple gallons of water in a bucket to re-prime. 2. look for a plug at the top of the pump and remove it. 3. pour water into the plug opening, filling up the pump as much as you can. 4. put plug back in so at least one thread is grabbing. by doing this it will allow air to escape and won't be spraying water everywhere. it is also a good idea to keep your hand on the plug. 5. turn on electricity to pump. 6. when you start to notice pressure re-gaining tighten up the plug so it does not drip. It is also a good idea to have an outside tap on to get air out of the lines. Another thing is, it is a good idea to shut off water to toilets and washing machines before re-starting pump because small debris have a habit of clogging them up. When your pressure is back, drain your toilet and cold water line to your washing machine, flushing all the stuff out until you see nice clear water. Hope I helped and good luck.

If I do, do I need to apply it on both sides of the gasket? Thank you.: Use an RTV sealer, It is black in color, works the best i have found. Now you put some spit on your fingers, i know sounds silly but it will keep the silicone from sticking to your skin. then put the silicone on your index and thumb, and work the sealer into the paper gasket. This will cause it to have a skin on both sides offering the best seal you can get. Now be sure that there isn't any moisture or chalky corrosion on mating surfaces. Not that it is too big a deal with the moisture , but i have watched guys not clean up the (corrosion) surfaces which mate and they ended up redoing the job.Hope this helps. P.S. I've never had a come back for my waterpumps and I'm well over 50 now. This method is tested and true.

Q: took car to meachanic on a friday drove home . mecahnic put in timing belt engine coolant water pump car on sunday leaking alot of green fluid and smoke coming from hood: green fluid is antifreeze. with the hood open start the car and look under the car to see where its coming from...then look up top at the hose connections,,,,,personnally i would phone the mechanic ands have him come out to the car so you dont overheat it and blow the motor.he shouldnt charge you for this as there has to be warrenty...i think he just ddidnt tighten a clamp or screwed up the water pump gasket
