Q:I have an old generator that the motor doesn't run. I want to salvage the generator head and make something like a wind, steam, or bio diesel generator I haven't made my mind up yet. But for now I need to dismantle the head from the motor. I think it has some kind of a ratio box on it too I'm not sure I've never done this before. I sure would appreciate any help!
The generator end should unbolt, followed by the stator. Remove everything you can and all that should remain is the rotor attached to the engine crank shaft.
Q:I am looking to save money on the electric/gas bill this winter and am considering a diesel generator to supply domestic power at 240 volts. Is this practical?
Not practical if you have a reliable grid connection A small generator is much less efficient (costly) than an large generator using unrefined fuel close to source bought in bulk and maintained and run at optimum load and temperature, or a constantly running wind turbine or nuclear reactor. plus you have to pay full VAT and fuel tax; electric from the grid is only 7.5%VAT
Q:Hi -- looking for specifically Lister Petter Diesel Generator parts distributor in central Cal. Electrical parts -- cycle timers, a/c disconnects, etc.,. The main company (ListerPetter)is closed until after the 5th, and this machine powers my home, in the process of battery conversion project, and looking to finish this project between th holidays. THis is my hubbys endeavor -- I am just the messenger -- so I hope these questions make sense, please feel free to email me more details or anyhelp you think useful. Thanks everyone
Depending on where you live try the on line yellow pages. Especially in large farming areas, like Fresno or Bakersfield, Stockton etc. Their will be equipment parts shops that will help you find what you need if they do not have it.
Q:Hi, this may be a stupid question but im a city slicker planning on campong and i want to buy a honda generator, What kind of fuel does it use? where do i get it? thanks.
ask the people in the store where you purchase the generator. most generators use regular gasoline, but some bigger ones use diesel.
Q:how does a generator work powerlessly. i mean like if there is a black out people cna generate energy from like a generator. well then how come a generator work without the help of anything? (NOT TALKInG About the hydropower generator, the one that spins.
Generators *always* take some kind of mechanical energy to operate. In the case of a power blackout, backup generators use large diesel engines rated for hundreds of thousands of Horsepower, to run the electrical backup generators. Those diesel engines (obviously) run on diesel fuel so, there is your 'anything'. .
Q:Why not samoto diesel generator power
Diesel generator shutdown often lose remanence is used due to the exciter pole material close to steel, remanence, after stopping in the excitation winding is not current magnetic field disappeared
Q:I want to power a water heater, a blower fan, and a small water pump continuously with a diesel generator run on Biodiesel. Is it possible to set up a system of some deep cycle batteries that will carry the load for say 1/2 hour or 1 hour and have the generator kick on automatically when the voltage drops to charge the batteriesthis way the generator will not be run continuously. What would you need to set this up? Anything besides what I have mentioned?Josh
What is the amp draw of the appliances how big are the batters and what is the output of the generator? too many variables for a good answer
Q:I have been trying to research the specifics of utilidor functionality for nearly two weeks and have come up with hardly any information. What I'm wanting to know is, at certain access points of utilidors in artic areas, is there something above ground that powers the tunneling below like possibly a transformer or a generator? I know it seems unfeasible to have either one out in the open to be exposed to the elements but I still want to know. And also even if this isn't the case now, was it so when the tunnel systems were first made?
What the hell is a utildor?
Q:I get conflicting opinions from mechanics about extended shut-down.I am parked for 3 months and driving is not an option. Should I re-start my diesel engine weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or just wait the 3 months and re-start then? If so, should I just restart as normal?I do know when I re-start, I must wait until normal temperture is reached prior to shut down, this could take 20 minutes or longer with the rear mounted engine. The radiator covered from the outside will not warm-up as fast as a front mounted engine. Covering this radiator from the inside is not an option due to a shroud covering the fan.
if you are going to leave it sitting they can sit for more than a year and it will still run fine but the only question is the battery they can not stay fully charged so if not using then disconnect the positive side to the battery and when you want to use it just reconnect it this is the way i do to preserve the battery and for added protection add stabil (fuel stabilizer) to diesel if it is going to sit through the winter Edit : a battery charger is a good idea My parent's RV has a solar panel which keeps the battery fully charged but does not use the RV much 1 to 2 times a year had a stabil in it so far no problems but the generator is problematic cause it runs on gas so I had to start it every month to make sure there is no problems with it(run it for 1/2 hour) gas deteriorates faster than diesel even if it has stabil
Q:3 mi Island and Chernobyl catastrophies were also results of buffoons operating the plant. Is nuclear energy going to die because humans are too greedy, lazy, and stupid?
Trust physicists!!! Nuclear Plants will go on. I am determined about it.
