Q:How to shut off the diesel generator
If you press the red emergency stop button, you must return to the original position, otherwise the generator will not be able to start.
Q:i understand that diesel engines are used in heavy duty vehicles and gasolines are usually used in cars.why are diesel engines preferred for heavy duty? and who are some cars using diesel engine, like some VW models that use clean diesel.i know the engine works a bit different between diesel and gasoline but as for performance, why is one preferred over the other for heavy duty and regular cars?
a diesel engine develops so much more torque compared to a spark ignition engine. given that the typical engine has a compression ratio of about 12:1 MAX and a diesel is roughly 18 to 22:1, when you ignite the air fuel charge by any means that compressed gas is what does every thing, in a spark ignition engine that air charge expands to 4 times its volume. i do not have a diesels ratio but there can not be much of a difference. that 12 to 1 now be comes 48 to one in a very small area forcing that piston to move. in the diesel with a 20 to one compression ratio, now 80 to one putting an immense force on the face of that piston. so muck torque is developed. i have no info on the clean diesels, so i will stop, but diesels are known for the smoke in the exhaust whick is particulate matter in the air that will settle out.
Q:I have a 1992 chevy 250 with a 6.5 turbo diesel, I have built a hydrogen generator for it that produces 2lt./min. but do not know how to hook it to the truck or where before or after the turbo.
doesn't mattereither way it will throw off the fuel mix and cause a rich or lean condition causing loss of mileage and performance and shorten engine life.
Q:Diesel generator belongs to special equipment
So diesel generators do not belong to special equipment yo
Q:Could anyone tell me what would be the price of 1 megawatt generator head (alternator). Also which are the major companies producing it in India?
Generator Heads
Q:Are they cranked by a self starter? Is there such an immensely powerful self starter that runs off batteries and can start such a big engine?Or are they started by some gasoline powered motor?
A diesel engine is started (like an automobile) by turning over the crankshaft until the cylinders fire or begin combustion. The starting can be done electrically or pneumatically. Pneumatic starting was used for some engines. Compressed air was pumped into the cylinders of the engine until it gained sufficient speed to allow ignition, then fuel was applied to fire the engine. The compressed air was supplied by a smallauxiliary engine or by high pressure air cylinders carried by the locomotive. Electric starting is now standard. It works the same way as for an automobile, with batteries providing the power to turn a starter motor which turns over the main engine. In older locomotives fitted with DC generators instead of AC alternators, the generator was used as a starter motor by applying battery power to it.
Q:I'm estimating 81 mpg at best, and 47 mpg at worst.
A friend is getting well over 100MPG. But his journey is just about optimum for the car. Plugs in at both ends.
Q:I live in a location without municipal water supply. I could buy a natural gas generator, and hire an electrician to connect it to my breaker box, but I believe there is a way to connect solar panels to a battery system to provide enough power for my 220 volts submerged pump. I have 2 horses, 24 chickens, 2 dogs, 4 cats, 3 parakeets, and 3 people that need water in the event of a hurricane, national power grid attack, etc. There are solar powered generators advertised, but they are not powerful enough for 220. Also, my whole neighborhood of over 200 homes all lives off their own water wells, and we all suffered during hurricane Ike: 10 days without a water supply.
For solar you would want to have a bank of batteries to store that power. Like the other guy said, you're better off buying a Honda Generator or even just a diesel (not gasoline, DIESEL) powered pump for emergencies.
Q:A new facility is having a problem with getting power supply, is it safe to run the entire facility (including AC/Ref systems) using a diesel generator? is the power quality guaranteed (considering good quality generator) since that suppliers of AC/Ref systems claimed that this facility would lose the warranty in case of using a generator. Thanks in advance.
I've done service work in areas after a hurricane, and I've seen a lot of units run off of generators. There's nothing wrong with it. Those systems are fairly hardy. But if the manufacturer says your warranty is at stake, you have to decide how much that warranty is worth to you.
Q:ie a ships diesel generator.
I'm assuming by trip you mean shut down/off Plenty of reasons: 1) overheat, most common cause, could be lost water pump or water supply or cooling lines plugged 2) electrical, although diesel does not use sparkplugs there are electrical components. There are glow plugs that get the whole process started when cold, there is a starter motor that gets it all going and there is some method to keep the fuel warm enough to flow correctly 3) Starve for fuel, either fuel ran out, to low temp so its sludge 4) Loss of oil pressure that is used for lubrication 5) Ouput limits, there will be an overcurrent/overvoltage system regulating the output of he generator and if it gets really out of wack then it will kill the whole thing to prevent damage to everything That's all I can think of right now
