Q: I currently operate a rug store that sells almost all persian rugs in Santa Rosa California (in the San Fransisco bay area). Operation is rather stable but I have two issues.1. I sell high quality rugs and hence the prices are more expensive reflecting the quality. However, many customers can find designs similar to mine on the internet at 1/3 to 1/4 of the price. (internet is 600, mine are 3000). If you put the rugs side by side you can DEFINATELY tell the drastic difference in quality. How should I cope with this?2. I am hoping to think of an idea used to promote the sale of these rugs. Any sort of promotion would be great just to get people to start buying.I have money to spend on ideas. Thanks, All help is appreciated. Best Answer will be chosen promptly.
You sell such a luxury item that your client base is much smaller. You have to infiltrate the market by showing that you have great taste and an eye for quality. Get a couple of high profile (rich, important, and powerful) clients and then word of mouth should help you immensely. It is all public relations. Hire a specialist if you must. Buy one of the cheaper rugs and have it on display (don't be real in your face with it-put it in a corner so that you can direct people to it if you need to make the point-keep the receipt on display and be genuine. Personally, I bought a handmade rug from Iran (I can immediately tell that it is better quality than whatever they sell at retail stores for twice the price (I bought it for $300 with shipping on OKorder). It is a low psi (120) with a thicker wool and some low pile, but you must remember that most people intend to have furniture, children, and feet on their rugs. I don't mind the lower quality because I don't feel the pressure of keeping it pristine when I bought it for function (then beauty). If you wanted to expand your client base you could open a seperate place that dealt with the more affordable and function driven rugs that would cost under $1000, but still be better quality than synthetic machine woven options. Good luck in your pursuits and I hope that I have been helpful! Just provide a service that fills an honest NEED.
Q: Just on average, generally speaking, how much does carpet cost to floor a 15 x 15 room including installation?
Basic carpet can be installed with a pad for around 3$ a s/f .(+-) It can be higher or lower with the quality of the carpet and pad. This based on you getting a 15' wide carpet (thus no seams) for 225 s/f. Thats 675 $ for carpet pad and labor. This generally won t include rip out of whats there now, floor prep ( if needed) , furniture moving and disposal. Remember this can vary with quality of pad and carpet. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: my daughter knocked the iron of the ironing board and has burnt the carpet. the colour of the carpet is a biscuit colour . please can any one help any ideas ?????
Cut out a piece of carpet in the closet and replace the burnt spot using some glue on the back of the carpet.
Q: I got ash stains on the carpet, some is burnt, which I cut off, but the rest is just stained by the ash. What should I use to clean the carpet?
Carpet cleaner - get a bristle brush and some carpet cleaner ( resolve works well ) Spray the cleaner on the carpet and after a few minutes brush the stain. It'll come up , it might take a few tries.
Q: My rug is a short, runner rug in front of our outside doorway. The material is shaggy and I'm not sure if I can put in the washer...?
Shag Runner Rug
Q: Im laying carpet in my house and was doing some online shopping and came across carpet tiles an easier much cheaper slternative to carpet. My question is are they worth it and can you tell its tiled when your done? And how long do they last
Carpet Tiles are sort of the DIY answer to laying carpet, since some people find the thought of unrolling the whole 12' roll and cutting it to be a bit daunting. Most of them will come with a 6-8lb pad attached to the bottom, but some come as a flat lay commercial style as well. They're comparable to the actual rolled carpet, but over time they are a bit quicker to show wear and fray, and the visibility of seams really depends on the installation. With the newer technologies, they've made it so they blend in very well, but only if put down properly. The lasting factor comes down to how you treat the carpet and what kind of warranty it has. Obviously, the one with lesser warranties will go a bit quicker, but the same can be said for high traffic areas vs. low traffic. On average, they don't last quite as long as standard roll carpets. I usually see them installed in basements or sitting rooms, not usually entry ways or bedrooms. Just make sure you do some research on the brands and check the warranties before purchasing, and good luck if you do decide to go through with it :)
Q: Is there need to lay carpet after laying floor heating floor?
Very soft; under normal circumstances, in fact, there is no need to lay a mat on it, it's needed in every family , if you feel it's unecessary, you can choose not to lay it. after all, it is just the floor. actually, that depends on your needs
Q: Which do you think hurts more: rug burns or tatami burns?(I don't know what made me think of this, but I know I haven't seen it asked before)
Astroturf rugby really, really sucks; so I'll go with rug burns.
Q: How to distinguish carpets' types?
Plastic carpet and so on, is the world's best quality raw materials for weaving carpets. Chemical fiber carpet has good abrasion resistance and elasticity. Stage and plastic carpet have soft texture, they are wool carpets that are not made by weaving or knitting method, and their decorative performance is not second to pure wool carpet, shopping malls, low price. If add 20% of the nylon fiber blending into the wool fiber, it will be shiny, such as polypropylene fiber carpet. At present. The plastic carpet is suitable for hotels, which can be divided into pure wool carpet. (4) Plastic carpet. Plastic carpet use polyvinyl chloride resin, so it can also be used in the bathroom with a variety of non slip effect of the carpet, and the price drops, and achieve good results.
Q: My puppy is basically almost fully potty trained and he messed up the carpets pretty bad of course...it was expected haha anybody know a good carpet cleaning product to clean well and also make the floors smell good? i have a steam cleaner (its a BISSELL) ive used it once to clean the entire area it does ok, but i was hoping maybe there is a better product out there.
I used to do maintainance at a large motel and we used a Rug Doctor as we found it to do the best job. A problem that you will run into will be if your puppy found one localized area to his liking or if your carpets are tacked or glued down with a pad laid underneath. I have heard of a product called Natures Miracle which is specifically for cleaning up pet excrement and eliminating residual odors although never used it. Its available in pet stores. I hope this helps.
