Q: We just got New carpeting through our house yesterday, how often should I have the carpeting cleaned...is it every 6 months or every year?Thanks: I wouldn't do it more often than once a year or even every 2 years if I have a good efficient vacuum cleaner and the carpet doesnt get grubby. Washing the carpet can matt the fibres if its wollen and also wear the carpet out. I have used a carpet Drycleaning service and had great results and you are left with dry carpet.

Q: hi guys. so i have a brand new rug i put in the living room. but sadly.. i think it must be the new thread smell.. or the smell of what it was wrapped in.. because it smells quite stale.. and is giving me a headache. this is my first apartment. and i dont have experience cleaning rugs.. can someone explain a good way to get rid of the smell.. astringents to buy.. or something to kind of wash the rug without staining or ruining it.. i can do it by hand.. i just dont know the correct approach.ps. i have a rite aid next door. so if i should get something there to clean it.. please let me know!also, whats a good cleaner to buy for a toilet bowl? i need some good advice thank u!: all carpet is glued together with chemical compounds. it can give off one head ache smell. and it is bad for you. since this is a rug you can simply hang it out to air for a day. that should get most of it out. febreeze helps too. as far as the toilet. any with an angled neck, that with a good brush and regular cleaning will mean you do not get unsightly stains

Q: We bought our house 2 months ago. We didn't mind the carpet. It is very nice carpet. However, the house was built in 1955 and has origional hardwood floors under the carpet. Here is the problem... it looks like there are hardwoods, a new sub floor and the carpet. My concern is that removing the sub floor will ruin the floors under. What has your expirance been?: After having just removed the carpeting in my house, I can tell you this: if they put a subfloor on top of hardwood, there was something wrong with the hardwood. It is not necessary in order to lay carpet. Padding and tack boards are all that are needed--which really don't ruin the hardwood. (You may want to fill a few nail holes from the tack strips.) Lots of houses have hardwood that is only finished around the edges--if you pull up the subfloor and find unfinished board flooring, that's one reason they laid the subfloor. Another reason might be that there was bad damage to the hardwood which made it uneven. A finished hardwood floor rarely needs subfloor for carpeting unless it is damaged or otherwise totally unusable as hardwood flooring. Since your house was built in 1955, it could have very badly damaged floors. There is only one way to check that--pull up the carpet in a corner, and the subfloor under that--and check. If the floors are not damaged, then the only damage will be from nail holes--which can be filled, sanded and revarnished.

Q: I am putting in 2 subs in my car with a plate so the subs look like the back of the trunk. Problem is that my carpet has quickly deteorated due to my previous box and I want to replace it. I am going to cut out a plywood sheet to fix the bottom of the car then install the carpet on that. The plywood is going to have a hinge to swing it up so I can get to the spare tired + add extra support. I need to do this by saturday before the subs are installed. What thickness plywood should I use (Thinner is better for me and I am going to drill holes in it for weight reduction) and how do I install the auto carpet so it's smooth and looks nice.Thanks!!!: Use 3/4 inch partical board not plywood you will have to remove seats and all panels. Watch out for those plastic hook pieces which hold the panels in place in the back
