- Q:Does scrubbing the carpet floor work?Question Details:Right now, my dad is scrubbing the carpet with a carpet cleaner.Well, he is applying the liquid and scrubbing over it and drying it.Does that damage the carpet? - ive never actually washed any of my rugs, but i hose down my saddle blankets. yo could always waterblast it, thatd be sure to get the hair out. if i out even a small saddleblanket in the washign machine, there seems to be hair on anythign that comes out of the machine for the next few washes. so i wouldnt put the rug in anything that isnt used solely for horse supplies
- Q:I purchased an old wool, floral patterned, pile area rug (approx. 8' x 10') at an auction. It needs cleaned and there is not a professional cleaner in my area. - Since you don't have a cleaning service in your area;I would recomend taking it to laundry mat that has commerical washers and add 1/2 cup woolite and wash on the lowest setting and then take home and place over railing or flat surface and let air dry. I do this with my Oriental area rugs. If a laundry mat is unavailable; use the recomendation above in your bath tub; squeezing gently after your drain tub and then palce over railing or place on flat surface.

- Steam clean it. Buy one, rent one or hire a professional. They are perfectly fine on carpets. I have my own steam cleaner and it's gets used constantly. Don't waste your money on scotch guard products. They are surface only and once you wipe up a spill or clean the carpet, the scotch guard is gone. Probably one of the most over rated products on the market. The main things that harm carpet are not cleaning regularly, not vacuuming regularly or choosing the wrong carpet pad.

- I would say go to the store and get an all purpose cleaner. Spray or pour it onto the surface and let it soak in. This should help a lot.
