- I don't know if your area has any stores, but Big Lots has sectionals right now for $299.00 they also have a web site!! Also, check around where you have flee markets, in my area there is usually a tractor trailer with new furniture on it for cheap money, and some Habitat for Humanity (reuse) stores have brand new furniture its more or less a shot in the dark but some get lots of new stuff in daily.. hope it helps
- Q: I bought an ikea Ektorp sofa two years ago.In the first year itself, I noticed feather leaking out of the sofas, it seems Ikea uses feathers in their cushions.Anyway when I was about to wash, I removed the slipcovers and there was just so much feathers that have leaked out. Also after washing the color of the slipcovers faded.I should have returned the sofa in the first year as they have a three year guarantee but I was busy and all. I can still return since my 3 years is not up so I would like to ask has anyone returned ikea sofas due to the quality. Did Ikea take it back after you complained, any problems returning the sofa? Has anyone complained but Ikea decided not to take the sofa back?Any advice what I should do about the sofa? It is such a waste, the sofa is still comfortable just a hassle when cleaning as there are a lot of feathers leaking out, eventually I think this will cause the cushions to sag/sink. Also the color has faded in just 2 short years.I guess I expected better quality from ikea.
- The Ektorp sofa has an awful reputation. I almost bought one last year but I did some research first and I'm glad I did! All the problems you've experienced are the similar to the stories I read. Apparently, the covers are well known for fading. I would try to take it back and get a refund or at least a replacement sofa. Good luck.

- we being like pirates..... we gots a leather treasure!!!!!! LOL..... go to a furniture or leather shop and let them know about the dirty couch and ask them on how to clean it!! they will sell you a good leather cleaning prouduct and BOOM go home and clean it up!!!

- Your best bet would be to check your local stores. Look for 'specials' and 'going-out-of-business' sales for the best deals. There are stores online that sell sofa beds, but when you calculate the shipping costs, the price becomes exorbitant. Good luck. If you live near a JC Penney's, their prices and quality are good. They also have great customer service.

- Q: I have one of those crappy ikea beds with the pine slats that hold up the single mattress. Instead of tossing it, I would like to convert it into a sofa. If I can chop it up and make it work it would be a fun and rewarding project. Any plans or suggestions would be great. Thanks my people!
- mrriskey007 Great idea. Most of the work is already done. Chop it so that you have the correct porportion back to seat. Move the back's legs to the position for the seat's rear legs. Consider adding a middle set of legs. Obtain a new spar that will run the sofa's length and it will be the seat's rear frame. Install, maybe, the middle leg to it. The back's connection to the seat's rear might be as simple as a 1/2 thick piece of plywood used as a gusset. Picture a 45 degree x 90 degree triangle with the short leg fastened to the seat rear and the long leg fastened to the back. Size the triangle for best strength. Adjust the 90 degree angle for the best back to seat angle. Glue and screw seat frame to gusset as well as the back. Gusset will also help to contain seat's cushions. Will need two of these, one for each end of the sofa (duh). Might consider one for the center for additional strength of the the back to seat (plus the middle leg if needed). Whalla -- done. Sofa arm rests at its ends are simple to add too. Select a piece of stock that will be the sofa's seat front leg extention as an upright for the front of the arm rest. Select stock for horizontal part of the arm. Consider using a gusset to connect those to pieces. Connect the arm to the rear of the sofa which is the back frame. - First you need to find out if your leather sofa is pigmented or aniline dyed. If the leather is simply fading, you can rejuvenate it by with leather products. However, if you’re looking to reapply the color or change the color altogether, I would suggest to contact a professional leather restorer. Most leather grades are “finished”, meaning a pigmented (protected) leather. Higher grade leathers are referred to as “fully aniline” or “unfinished” and it’s basically a dye that stains the leather. This type of leather can be restored to a “finished” leather, for example, by a professional restorer.
