- Q: My dog keeps jumping on the sofa, how do I stop him? He just won't listen to me, every time he just keeps getting on the sofa, I just want him to stay on the floor. If he doesn't do it I just put him in the other room but when he enters the living room again he will just get on the sofa again.
- As your dog begins to jump onto the sofa, (Put him on a leash) pull his leash in a downward movement as you say Off in a low tone and move toward him in a somewhat threatening manner (like his mother would). As your dog backs away, give him the command Sit while helping him into this position. Once he is sitting, praise him calmly. This teaches him that the way to get attention is not to jump, but to sit calmly.
- Q: I will be moving out to okinawa with my husband. He has already been there for almost 3 years and just recently extended another year there. Will I automatically get Sofa Status when we get married or how does that work? We will also be living off of base. Am I going to have to get a visa also to work on base, even though we are married?
- I think the SOFA is sort of your visa. Meaning, if you have SOFA staus, you will not need a separate visa to be in Japan. As for work, SOFA has special rules and regulations regarding dependant and employment. You may need to consult with base personel regarding the detailed rules and regs. In general, much of the work that is not DOD or US Military specific, is supposed to be given to local residents.
- Q: Need help with my sofa to take apart and reassemble it.is there a good professional company that can be trusted doing it?someone who had the experience? how much it cost and how long it takes to do it.also how soon they can get and do the job?
- Without knowing where you are and a little about the sofa, this is impossible to answer. There are sofas that are modular where the the arms, deck and back are upholstered separately and bolted together. Even if these have features like skirt and welt, it will be more extensive. Worst case is a fairly extensive un-upholster and re-upholster, at which point, it's probably not worth the money to do it, as it will exceed the purchase price.
- Q: What's better for a family- a sectional or sofa/loveseat?
- i would say a sofa/loveseat because it looks more elegant than a plain ole sectional couch. i like to arrange my furniture too much with a sectional you can't do that much but its your choice.

- Q: I have one of those crappy ikea beds with the pine slats that hold up the single mattress. Instead of tossing it, I would like to convert it into a sofa. If I can chop it up and make it work it would be a fun and rewarding project. Any plans or suggestions would be great. Thanks my people!
- mrriskey007 Great idea. Most of the work is already done. Chop it so that you have the correct porportion back to seat. Move the back's legs to the position for the seat's rear legs. Consider adding a middle set of legs. Obtain a new spar that will run the sofa's length and it will be the seat's rear frame. Install, maybe, the middle leg to it. The back's connection to the seat's rear might be as simple as a 1/2 thick piece of plywood used as a gusset. Picture a 45 degree x 90 degree triangle with the short leg fastened to the seat rear and the long leg fastened to the back. Size the triangle for best strength. Adjust the 90 degree angle for the best back to seat angle. Glue and screw seat frame to gusset as well as the back. Gusset will also help to contain seat's cushions. Will need two of these, one for each end of the sofa (duh). Might consider one for the center for additional strength of the the back to seat (plus the middle leg if needed). Whalla -- done. Sofa arm rests at its ends are simple to add too. Select a piece of stock that will be the sofa's seat front leg extention as an upright for the front of the arm rest. Select stock for horizontal part of the arm. Consider using a gusset to connect those to pieces. Connect the arm to the rear of the sofa which is the back frame. - Q: thoughts on this sofa-bed (style, colour)?
- I agree with what another person said. Typically, convertible futons (the one you pick which has the cushioning upholstered in it) or sofas like that are firm and uncomfortable. Particularly when sleeping on them as beds. You're going to want to make certain that it will meet your standards of comfort before getting it. If you get one you should test it out in person unless you're ok with the idea it may not be that comfortable. I personally would choose a regular futon or a daybed over the convertible futon sofas because you can pick your mattress and futon cover. You can also pick the thickness of your mattress, so that if you plan to sleep on it regularly you will be much more comfortable and when it wears out you can replace it easily. It has been suggested that a 9 inch thick mattress should be used for basic futons if you plan to sleep on them regularly.

- Q: There are very few obstacles inside or outside the doorway. The legs may come off of the sofa, but I'm not sure? Will professionals be able to get this sofa through one of my doors and into my house?
- Call the retailer from whom you plan to purchase the sofa and ask for the Delivery Department... they'll have the true dimensions of the sofa as it's packaged and can tell you if your doorway is sufficiently large enough to get the sofa in your home. Also, keep an eye on the delivery people and watch what they do to assemble the piece... 'cause it's likely one day you'll want to move the sofa out of your home. Hope this helps, ? ? TX Griff
