- Q: Is this really difficult to maintain? I have a 7-year old and we live in the tropics. What are the products that we need to use as protector?
- I live in North Carolina, and in the Summer we have Tropical Weather.I wouldn't recommend any Leather, Vinyl, or Plastic because you stick to everything, even with A/C on all the time.Also mold and mildew grow really fast on leather. Buy a Cloth Sofa. 9/29

- Teach her how to climb down. That way once she is up she can safely get down on her own. If you are really paranoid by a padded mat to put along the base of the couch. But falling off the couch isn't going to kill her.

- i just buy sofas that are already nicely decorated. :) Sewing would be your best option by using a sewing machine, but since you don't have the time, maybe you can ask a friend?
- Q: I bought an ikea Ektorp sofa two years ago.In the first year itself, I noticed feather leaking out of the sofas, it seems Ikea uses feathers in their cushions.Anyway when I was about to wash, I removed the slipcovers and there was just so much feathers that have leaked out. Also after washing the color of the slipcovers faded.I should have returned the sofa in the first year as they have a three year guarantee but I was busy and all. - The Ektorp sofa has an awful reputation. I almost bought one last year but I did some research first and I'm glad I did! All the problems you've experienced are the similar to the stories I read. Apparently, the covers are well known for fading. I would try to take it back and get a refund or at least a replacement sofa. Good luck.

- Yes, you could have an ant colony in the sofa. The little buggers can set up shop pretty much anywhere. Some species of ants actually build their colonies in wood. In nature they prefer trees. Sometimes dead, sometimes not. But if your sofa has a wooden frame, they could decide that's good enough. If that really is where the ants are living, the best way to get rid of them is to get rid of the sofa.
