Q:I'm moving into a house and it is solid concrete, the walls and the floors. we want to install carpet in two of the bedrooms and we were originally going to get stick on carpet tiles, but they were unavailable. We think that traditional carpet installation would be too big of a project for us to handle ourselves and hiring someone would cost too much. So my question is, how exactly do we go about this? Can we just buy regular carpet and install it with the adhesive? Does it need padding? or is there a specific type we need to buy?Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!: I've never actually put carpet on but I've watched my dad do it, you need a layer of underlay underneath the carpet, you can use adhesive but most people nail the carpet down or there are these thing (I've forgotten what they're called) which are wooden strips with nails in them which you put under carpets

Q:ive got a 3 year old welsh cob and he takes his rugs off because he don't like them but i want to know how i could get him used to them.idea's?Thanks: Leave the rug by him in the stable. When he's used to it you can start putting it on him. Leave it on for a minute when he's tied up outside and then increase the amount of time until he's wearing it for a long time. If he takes it off because it's uncomfortable, you could try getting a different style of rug or a lighter one if it's too hot. Hope this helps!

Q:I'm thinking a dark purpley magenta... or perhaps a shaggy brown rug might suit. Ideas?: I personally would go with a burgundy color..like a red wine...Never go with light beige colors, they are very hard to clean unless you clean them right away. Our home has fitted carpets and all of them beige, and one can see every little blemish. I like burgundy. I think it won't clash and it looks elegant...I think a shaggy brown rug will not do the blue justice and yes, if you are young and daring and for bold extremes, then I think a purply magenta could work. That will be a bold color scheme but it can work. Also make sure, that you either redecorate your walls or the rug and the blue cream sofa should somehow be in harmony with the color on the wall ..otherwise if you have too many different colors, (meaning the wall has a yellow paint, and the rug is purply magenta and the the sofa is blue cream, then I find that too much of a contrast..so check the walls and if they are white, I would paint them and maybe give them a nice color that could be a blue...Blue is very relaxing and a restful color and it depends in which room this sofa stands. A cream colored wall would also go with a blue cream sofa and a burgundy carpet...I would not get the cheapest rug. Look for a bargain but get something nice..but not too expensive. Look around in in antique shops for bargains..Maybe they have something suitable that is not too expensive..x

Q:Water from a faulty air conditioner dripped onto a small area of the fitted carpet in our bedroom. The patch is no longer wet, perhaps slightly damp, but the smell is horrible. Any advice please. Changing the carpet is not an option.: If you have a carpet cleaner (or can borrow or rent one) I would do it. There are special carpet cleaners that are heavy duty and for mold/mildew/pets and will get rid of most smells. We had some flooding in a carpeted room, and it took a couple of cleanings, but you can't smell anything funky any longer. We used regular cleaner the first time and the heavy duty stuff the second time. As a temporary solution, you could out some baking soda on the carpet, leave a day or so and vacuum it up. But, if the smell is in the carpet pad, it won't do much.

Q:Does anybody have a recipe for home made carpet cleaner for a steam cleaner?Thanks: I recommend professional cleaning but if youre just hard headed and insist on a home brew here ya go...If your carpet is synthetic material(nylon, polyester, olefin) depending on the type of soiling, Tide will work excellent, but dilute dilute dilute. Only use 1 drop to 5 gallons of water. With that, add 2 cups of 30volume hydrogen peroxide(can be found at sally's beauty supply for $3 a quart). If your carpet is natural fiber such as wool, dont be a cheap a$$, get it professionally cleaned. If you need something to spot clean you need some thing on the acid side of the pH scale, equal parts of vinegar and water will work fine. It will stink when you use it, but when it dries the smell will go away.
