- Q:hey guys/girls, i just bought a brand new black leather sofa, im a guy and im really really bad with design, just need a few tips on what would go well in the living room with the sofa.. im moving into my first apartment and it has white walls and white carpet. not much room but enough to put furniture...i just honestly need all the help i can get, what colors go well with black leather. what kind of furniture, coffee tables, as well as like what kind of artwork should i put up in my bachelor pad, things of that nature. its open ended really. just looking for some brainstorming. give me all the knowledge i need to go buy some furniture

- Q:Ok well I never paid for the ones I have now, they were passed on from one of my sons, It's all fabric,(can't upholster them myself). Their 7 years old,and he had a dog (male) that had fun scratching it up in different parts, and all the lower edges have stains (dog). when you sit on them you sink in, they give me a terrible rash when I sit on them. He told me that a long wood piece in the sofa was broken, but still I told him to give them to me. Now they are rather taking up space in my living room, since I don't use them cause of the rashes. And I'm rather confused of what to do. They are rather big and my apt is not sized for such big living room set.
- Generally you would reupholster if the furniture has good bones and is functional. Since the sofa is broken, I don't think it fits in the good bones category. If it is too large for your small apartment, I am also questioning its functionality. I think you shouldn't waste time and money reupholstering. I think its just time to call your son and ask him if he'd be so kind as to come pick up the sofa he dropped off.

- If it's brown then duck egg blue goes really well with it. You could keep the walls in a neutral off white (almond white is nice) and just put one feature wall in the duck egg blue. The feature wall is usually the one adjacent to the window. Another idea is to use greens, you could try a limestone colour or if you want to be really bold, then go for a lime green which is really trendy at the moment! If you go with the lime then I'd just do a feature wall, not the the whole lot or it will be a bit heavy. Be careful doing the feature wall as the lines will need to be really crisp to look good! If you don't want to be too bold, you could try a light coffee brown that will compliment the brown sofa, just make sure that you use some coloured accessories so it's not all too brown. Some light blue scatter cushions would look great. Get samples before you decide an paint a big enough area on the wall so you can see how it looks with your furniture. Leave it a day so you can see how the light changes in the room Good luck and happy decorating!

- Defiantly the second one. The first one is a little out of style and you will get tired of a L configuration. And if you move it may not fit your new room. the first one would be OK in a basement or TV room. But if you want the one with the most style and if you are young , go with the 2nd sofa.
- Q:I have a small living room and have been trying to find suitable furniture that is not too overstuffed/big. The other issue is that the door is 30-31 inches wide and most furniture heights and depths are bigger than this. I have looked at Ikea's products and I'm considering the Karlstad loveseat or the new Sater sofa, which is a 2.5 seat leather sofa. Is Ikea furniture comfortable and durable. How good is the leather? How well does the furniture age? I don't want it looking shabby after a short while. Any other suggestions, and before you say it :), I already browse Craigslist, the local thrift store and Overstock, no luck yet. Suggestions welcome. Thanks
- It came with the legs off and fit through our apartment door. I don't remember the exact dimensions of the door but we had to take the legs off again before moving. It still looks new, two years later. It is microfiber and we've cleaned chocolate off it (granted, it was only a tiny spot). It was about $50-100 more than the sofas at Ikea but worked for us b/c we lived 3 hours away from Ikea. Craigslist is a good idea. Check the garage sale category too- you could get lucky! Have you posted a wanted ad? I haven't had any luck with local thrift stores. I must not frequent them on the right days. Sometimes Target has decent looking leather like furniture.

- Sofa beds are so very very very heavy. Impossible to transport in a car. Impossible to lift if you don't have 2 men a truck.

- You could get 2 side tables in the same color or similar color to keep next to each end of the sofa. This would create the illusion of length. Also use pillows and similar or ligher colors if u have to use any. If you get a long narrow coffee table to keep in front of the sofa, this too would help. The Asian long tables that are low could look good.

- Taste it then sample all 3 cats poo. The one that tastes like sofa poo is the culprit. Sadly I'm partially serious.
