- Q:Wood panel on large rolled arm, bun feet, and panel across bottom have carvings of leaves . Panel came off when moving and has 3 nails sticking out from the inside. How do I fix it?
- If nails are in sofa pound them in. Get some Elmer's white glue and glue the panel to the sofa. You need clamps or rubber bands or something to hold panel for 24 hours. If nails are sticking out of panel then they need to be snipped or cut flush and then do the gluing. If you try to nail it will look crappy. I have a grandfather's clock that is glued panels and it has held since 1983.

- The urine probably went deep into the foam inside the cushions. You'll have to soak them in the Nature's Miracle, probably a few times to get the smell out. Or you can get new foam.

- You could get leather, as leather will go with anything. However, there are a lot of styles and qualities of leather sofas. If you have a lot of kids and pets, I would wait on the leather. Go to a furniture store and look at what they have. Most stores have a designers section where you can check out fabric samples. I would suggest getting a durable fabric with a high # rating that will last for years and... get one that is in a print with lots of different colors (easier to hide spills and stains).

That's if they want your business they risk giving the competition an edge, all they have to do is put it back on the floor and you pay the difference of shipping and what your exchanging for. But rules are rules and my husband hated this but he was hired as a contractor to deal with this problem. People will order the color of carpet and it look different when they get it, so he makes you sign contract. And work it out with you to keep business. OK! Next time ask for their measurement of sofa size and then measure your room and place the furinture in your room by size. OK!
- Q:Our forest green leather sectional sofa is almost 10 years old, and has seen a lot of use, but not abuse. The leather of the seats has a crazed look, as if the green finish has separated from the leather, perhaps. I would like to restore the sofa leather to look fresher and consistently the same color. I have used mink oil, neat's foot oil, and a leather treatment I got at the shoe store, but nothing's changed other than the leather is a little more supple.Is my next logical step to find a green shoe or leather dye? The seat cushions are not removable, and I do not want to use something which will rub off on people's clothes as they sit down.

The salesman recommended Rowe, but I read online that they went bankrupt a few years ago (I know they're fine now, but that still worries me) along with some bad reviews. - Here's the thing about online customer reviews - RARELY does anyone go online to give a good review - disgruntled people - with or without merit - will take the time to do write a bad review. I've been in the furniture biz for 30 yrs my dad 30 yrs before that. Most of these reviews online are skewed, one-sided, never reveal the true facts. I would not give them any credence whatsoever. I can guarantee you that the furniture companies I've worked for are not in the business to have unhappy customers...that makes no sense. What people fail to realize is that in most cases you get what you pay for. If you buy a $299 sofa for instance expect it to not fall apart in a year, then you're not being realistic. If you spend $1000 on a sofa, you should REASONABLY expect 5-7 years, depending on the variables. If you spend $1500-2000, you could REASONABLY expect 7-10 yrs. This also depends on the construction, fabric daily use abuse. And you will always pay more for a custom ordered fabric than the stock fabric, which will most likely be a cheaper fabric, but not neccessarily a less durable fabric (microfiber for instance is quite often a stock fabric. Any fabric though with a high polyester content will be your best bet for durability) Of the manufacturers I've worked for, I would suggest La-Z-Boy Bassett. (Rowe, btw, is not very good). Another good manufacturer is Flexsteel, but I don't know if you'll find one in your price range. Both LZB Bassett have been in the biz for well over 100 yrs. I can appreciate that you don't want to waste your money or have regrets. So compare these 2 suggestions go with what you feel most comfortable with.

- im not sure what 'a little sofa thing' is lol. look at the room from the entrance. if it looks cluttered, then its too much. if it does not look cluttered and there is plenty of room to walk around, im sure it is fine. you can never have too much seating if the space is available.
