- Having had worked for a charity as peter is talking about for over a year, they will take the sofa...but only if its in decent shape. Most places won't take it if it has holes, stains, smells funny, or just plain has an ugly pattern. And tricking them into coming by telling them its good (if it isn't) just makes them angry. But here's an option...If they say they can't take it due to its condition...MOST of them offer Hauling service. You pay them, they take it to the landfill for you. You just have to ask, they don't usually offer it right up front. Good luck with the couch.

- Try woolite with resolve for upholstery on the sofa, spot shot on the carpet. if you don't have a steam cleaner, rent a rug doctor from your local grocery store, or walmart be sure to get the upholstery attachments. Buy a small bottle of carpet cleaner for the machine, a can of spot shot a small can of oxi-clean. Pretreat with the spot shot, add 1 scoop of oxi-clean to the water with the carpet cleaner clean the sofa carpet. Add 1 scoop oxi-clean with every water refill (and the capful of shampoo) it should all look like new. I use this method everytime I clean my light beige carpets it works great.

- Just tell him what is bothering, you sleeping on the sofa, well, that is very passive aggressive, and for real he doesn't sound like he would really get it that you are upset. He ignores you for his iphone, and watching TV, he probably wouldn't realize that you weren't even in the room, so sleeping on the sofa, I don't think so,. The best thing is to just flat out tell him that he is inconsiderate, doesn't respect you, or the marriage and if you want to throw an ultimatum in there just be sure that you can back it up, because if you have done that before then relented then he doesn't believe you follow through with what you say. I think unless you get some type of counseling, and that is contingent on if you even want to go down that road, or if he is even open to going with you, I don't think you have much hope, Anger, resentment, no affection, that sounds like a downward spiral to me, and one person can't make a marriage work, it takes two, and to me he doesn't appear to be to interested in any of it. - Q: We are 3mo away from moving into a 1-year temp rental, while we try to look for something more permanent. Last week, my 1-yo niece puked all over our current couch (egads!)--I used enzyme cleaners and have extracted most of the stain/smell. We had originally planned to wait to buy new furniture until we found our long-term house in a year or so; however, no one is really wanting to sit on this sofa. Question is: Should we 'deal with it' until we find a permanent house and then buy a sofa that works perfectly for that house------or------should we get rid of that sofa now and buy something 'just guessing' what may work for us. (We need some sofa so just waiting won't be an option). What would you do????
- It's baby puke man, get over it. Rent a carpet/upholstery cleaner and go over the sofa if you guys are that wigged out about it then buy a sofa when you get a new place that matches the decor. In all honesty, there is probably more bacteria... even e coli on things like your purse, cell phone, coffee table, remote controls, kitchen sink etc. than the couch.... especially if you wear shoes in the house or have pets. If it was me, I would just deal with it as you said because if you wash it then it's fine. Wait until you have your own kids and they're spitting up and peeing on your furniture.... this really isn't a big deal.
- Q: My family has had 2 microfiber couches for close to 2 years and they are light tan color, so with pets and kids, they are starting to look pretty shabby. I have tried Resolve Multi-Fabric and used that to wash the cushions, and it worked at first, until someone spilled a drink on the couch and I tried to get it out. Now it doesn't appear to be coming out too well and there are what appears to be streaks from the cloth I used (even though it was a white one).Does anyone have any ideas on how to clean the sofa cushions so that they will look cleaner without streaks? Or do I have to get it professionally cleaned?
- try getting a grounding cable and attach it to something metal on the frame of the furniture and then down to something solid on floor, past the carpet and into the wood or concrete or what ever is solid and connects to the foundation below. that way the static has a chance to discharge from the furniture and to the ground. and thus helping to reduce its attraction of the particles. like the dust, lint, and hair. other than that maybe some sort of cover, but that defeats the purpose of having micro fiber covered sofa. good luck hope that helps.

- Q: I've had dark blue upholstered sofas and black dogs for years with no problems. The dogs shed, but it doesn't show up on the sofas. However I recently rescued an English Mastiff and she's got light hair, which shows up really bad against the dark colors. It's pretty much impossible to vacuum it completely from the upholstery.I'm going to get new sofas soon because the sofa and loveseat are my college furniture and they are wearing out. I was thinking about chocolate brown leather so that the dog hair wouldn't adhere to the fabric, but dogs' claws can scratch those really easily, right?Are there any other options that would look nice? A fabric that dog hair wouldn't adhere to and dog claws wouldn't scratch up?
- I would go with leather- it is much better than fabric but maybe a lighter color tan instead of chocolate brown.
