- Q: We have a small living room with a medium size window in. We currently have a very large (takes up most of the space) corner sofa in dark red and also the carpet is in red. So basically its very red in a small room. We want to decorate the room maybe with a feature wall opposite the sofa or behind it? We are really stuck for ideas and could do with some help of what colours to use in the room! We currently have one black feature wall and its very dark so would like something different from that, any suggestions would be helpful.ThanksNat

- Q: I did some spot cleaning on a sofa using a Bissell spot remover. I have two questions:1. I got most of the stains out, but there is some of a stain that I think was something greasy. - I think it is derivitives of the same thing in different languages...since furniture comes from all over the world and different eras in history. There may be subtle differences in details such as arm style, back height, attached cushions, etc. based on the historical period and country that originally started that idea. Sorry I don't have those details for you. It is all common terminology for the same thing: an elongated chair that seats more than one person. And different places in the US are probably used to calling this thing a certain word but as usual we may not know what we are really talking about based on the historical facts.

- I think you could warm it up by using an orange or red colour. When I say orange, I mean a copper or burnished orange (pumpkin spice or even terra cotta) - nothing like those bright orange garbage bags! A soft green (like a moss or lichen colour) would also look nice. Blues would make the room look cool and yellows - well it might be over kill. I would go to the renovation store (home depot, home hardware, Rona...) and pick colours that you like. You could even do just an accent wall with a dark red or orange, behind the couch, and then find a complimentary colour to paint the remaining walls. That is what I did - a deep merlot (red wine) colour with an off white that has a pinky undertone. I never thought I would use PINK on my walls but it compliments well and is very soothing and warm. Go figure! Anyway, go and experiment! Have fun with it! Bring deep luxurious colours into your home! It'll help tone down the sofa if that is your goal!
