- Q: I just bought new house but I am only moving in next month. The place that I am renting at the moment is already furnished so that means that I will have to start buying new furniture now. But now I want to know what is the difference between the contemporary microfiber sofas and the traditional microfiber sofas?My reason for asking is that I was in a conversation about this the other day and no one seemed to know the answer.

- Q: I have recently come into possession of a really good couch. The ONLY problem being is that it has stains on it, and smells a little. Besides that, it's brand spankin' new and in nice condition (no rips or tears) / everything in tact. I've decided to make a project out of this couch, as I know that most of the time, suede can be a b17ch to clean, but honestly, my husband and I don't have the money for a new couch as all of our money is going towards getting a new car. - Not sure how bad the stains are. When I bought my suede sofa, the guy at the furniture store said the best thing to use was a cotton cloth and a bit of methylated spirits diluted with water. Seems to work. You could try it, the good news is that a bottle of metho will only sting you about $4.00
- Q: Hi I was giving a beautiful sofa today and was gonna use it in the only space available which is an empty upstairs bedroom the only problem is it wont fit threw the hallway vertically and theirs a wall in the way of the door entranceso the only option i have is to try to get it threw the window in the room which both panes open inward so theirs more than enough space, the problem is how would i go about doing this?i'm thinking there is more than enough space to put a few ladders to the window with rope on the top tied down so it doesnt slip back wrapping the sofa in pad liners tieing rope around it and halling it upIs there an easier way to do this task without hiring someone to do it for me for $300? thanksbtw its on the backyard side of the house so i cant hire someone with a crane

- Q: Our dog suddenly is sneaking onto our sofas. We went away one wknd, our daughter stayed home with our dog he now sneaks onto sofas and runs to his bed when I wake up during the night or come home during the day. SO he knows not to get on the sofas because he runs to his own bed! How can we train him to not get up on the sofas? I bought him his own soft dog sofa bed.
- I think its the scent of you guys that your dog is liking not to mention who doesnt love to sleep on a sofa. Try taking a blanket or a pillow with your scent on it and put it in your dogs new bed. Dogs tend to not like new things without a smell. Give it a try!
- Q: We have a fabric-type sofa. We have 2 dogs. One sleeps on there as much as she can!!! She's a Choc. Lab so a larger dog. She gets the sofa smelling!I plan on taking a carpet cleaner to it to get it clean.How can I protect it from smells? I was thinking of getting a plastic like material and laying it on the seat area then covering that with like a soft fabric, like what they use for pet beds. I'd remove it as guest come.How else can I protect it? What do you do?Oh and keeping dog off the sofa is a no-no. we have 2 sofas and the 'good one' is the one i bought before our marriage. - For regular cleanings, spray the couch down with vinegar. Vinegar absorbs smells and will freshen the fabric. The vinegar smell will evaporate. Before spraying, give it a vacuuming down, then spray it with the vinegar. To leave a nice pleasant smell after the vinegar has evaporated, dilute a teaspoon of vanilla extract in a bottle of water and spray over upholstery. A good way of keeping your sofa fresh is to fold a sheet to the same width as your couch cushions and place it over the cushions of your couch and tuck it in the sides. At the end of the week wash the sheet and replace it. That way most of the smell is absorbed by the sheet and not the couch. Remember, the least amount of chemicals used in your home is best for your beloved pets, they are a lot more sensitive to things you might choose to use then we are. If you are going to wash the couch (which would be good to do on a monthly basis even just with a scrub brush and then aired out) it would be good to use Washing Soda, which is a stronger form of baking soda, known to be tough on stains and even tougher on smells. Its a natural product too. You can find that in the laundry section of your local store I believe. Good luck :)
- Q: We are going to be investing in a new sofa/loveseat set soon. We have 2 cats, a medium sized dog (that seems to smell no matter how often we bathe him!) and 3 kids: 15,13 and 8. We are very hard on our furniture--we have lots of company over and our sofa and love seat get a LOT of use. What would be the most durable: leather or a good fabric? Our cats don't get up on the furniture and our dog doesn't shed (but he sure does smell!) so hair isn't a problem. I am more concerned with stains, smells, and the general livability of the material. Our home is very very comfortable and inviting and I want my furniture to portray that as well. I want something functional that looks nice too. I am wanting something that will last me awhile--at least until my kids move out and go to college. : ( Any ideas?
- I would say leather. Since you need something that shouldn't keep smells, stain and wont wear out too soon, I think leather is right for you. It is also easy to clean... Fabric not so much. I really hope this helps =]
- Q: I've been looking around and I can only find either a cheap sofa lounger that is not comfortable or a comfy one that is not cheap. Does anyone know of a good place to find a decent sofa lounger, besides IKEA (unless you have personally had a good experience with it)? It will be used mostly as a couch in my little studio apt, and also for guests to sleep on every once in a while. I would prefer to spend no more than 200-300 dollars and I would like it to be black microfiber, not leather. I found one on Kmart's website, it's called the Elite Mali Flex Capital Collection Futon, but it only has 3 reviews (all good). I'm sceptical to buy it though because I haven't tried it out for myself ( they didn't have it at the store, only online). Has anyone had one of these or know anything about the brand? - Q: I had to choose a neutral colour for walls in the livingroom (well the only room since it's a small apartment) and I didn't want white or light grey so I chose beige. I just hate the fact beige is so light and kinda boring. What colors go with beige with the decorating, what colour sofa and paintings?
