- As it relates to the feel comfort, top-grain (real) leather is a natural material that will provide a softer, more breathable feel. Think of the difference between wearing polyester clothing to 100% wool. Many people will complain of leather furniture being hot or sticky, which is a result of having man-made materials in bonded and bicast leathers. Top-grain leather will reduce this significantly, and the leather will better match your body temperate. From a standpoint of the look, this will depend much on taste. Bonded and bicast leathers will look like leather, and often have a more uniform look. High quality, top-grain leather furniture will often be aniline-dyed, which allows the true grain of a leather to show through. Top-grain leather is often more susceptible to surface scratches that will cause the look of the leather to change over time. Some people will appreciate this for the character it gives a piece of furniture, and some will not. From a quality and durability standpoint, top-grain leather is typically thicker, and because it does not have a synthetic layer, you will not wear through it and it has the potential to last much, much longer.

- Yes, lots of pretty throw pillows will add color to the room. Just about any color you like. A nice lamp with a shade on it in one of the sofa pillow colors. A bowl of oranges on a table will add color. Orange accents would look good with the beige, white, and light brown carpet.

Do they have good quality? We want something that will (hopefully) last approximatly 10+ years. Our current sofas from Rooms to Go only last about a year (side note-NEVER buy Rooms to Go!). - I worked for La-Z-Boy for 7 years. I was a salesperson, then visual mgr, then accessory mgr, then buyer, then designer, then asst mgr, then store mgr, then back to designer (my passion education). I own ALL La-Z-Boy furniture, purchased almost 10 years ago. I'd been in the furniture design biz for 20 years before I bought furniture, cause nowhere I'd worked - all high end, mind you - was the quality that I thought was worth the price, even at my employee discount. I am STILL impressed with La-Z-Boy furniture. I have a stationery sofa, the Avery armless chair, the Riley reclining chair in leather. I also have all my occasional tables from Hammary, which is a casegoods company LZB owns carries in their stores. I would still work for LZB if they had a store in the city I moved to. If you are going to spend $1000 on a sofa at LZB, you're getting a great sofa. Like any furniture line, they have a good, better, best quality level. The good quality is at he $599-699 price point, is the promotional line. GOOD will get you 3-5 years. BETTER is the $700-$899 price point. They will get you 6-8 years. The BEST is $900 over will get you 9 to 20 years, depending on the level of use other factors (leather will last 4x's longer, for instance). I highly recommend LZB. You will have to pay for delivery probably, it's worth every penny. Also, buy the accident protection plan...also worth every penny. Take good care of your furniture by vacumming it reguarly rotating the cushions reguarly. Maintenance is very important in extending the life of your furniture - (but, as you experienced, there's little hope for longevity of Rooms To Go furniture)

- As a seamstress who is well versed with all types of fabric textiles, I can tell you that painting leather furniture will not be a successful idea and any notion of doing so should be dismissed. Paint applied to leather will not adhere as the leather expands and contracts due to changing temperatures and humidity levels. Leather will also stretch with use.
