- Q:Im a military dependants and my husband next base is USA and we want me and the kids live with him, but we dnt have any visa to entering USA, can we use a Sofa visa in USA?
- No you cannot use the SOFA stamp to come into the US. The SOFA stamp is for when you are in a foreign country with the US military. To get into the US you need to do the proper immigration process. The children if they are his, even though born outside the US are US Citizens so they will not need a Visa or immigration. you as the spouse will, as you were living overseas you could have applied for Citizenship earlier if you wished. You can go to the Embassy and do the paperwork.
- Q:I PCS in a 45 days. I have to send my wife's passport to Germany and get it Stamped before she is allowed to enter the country. I'm in Korea. Has anyone had experience with getting this stamp before? How long does it take? I'm going to FedEX it with fastest priority, and hope they mail it back to me within a month.
- As long as she's command sponsored, on your orders, 45 days should be enough time. Do you have a sponsor in Germany yet? If so, I'd ask my sponsor to keep track of the SOFA Stamp request. If you don't have a sponsor write your Senior Enlisted Advisor (or whatever your branch calls it... CSM?) and ask for assistance keeping track of it. Good communications is the key. Make sure your new command knows how to contact you at all times so that if there's a snag they can let you know what's going on.
- Q:Any suggestions on good sofa brands? I've only looked at La-Z-Boy...thinking of looking at Broyhill now.
- I have a Broyhill sofa I purchased in 1997 and still absolutely love it. It is a slipcover sofa--meaning it is upholstered in off white underneath the slipcover, which comes off and I wash it in the washing machine. The slipcover is of good quality and fits well, without being sloppy looking at all. It is also made well, I know because I am a seamstress. I love this feature because I have made another slipcover for a refreshing change. The arms, legs and joints of the sofa are still as sturdy as the day it was delivered. So, I have had good personal experience with Broyhill. I am also an Interior Decorator and when furniture shopping for clients, I push them toward Broyhill. They too, have no complaints. So, I would highly recommend Broyhill.
- Q:I'm moving to Korea in a month and I was told that both my daughter and I needed to have a sofa stamp on our passports. What I can't figure out is, what this is, and why I need one. Also where can I get one?
- SOFA = Status of Forces Agreement. It's the agreement we have with different countries that, among other things, establish the terms and treatment of hosting our military there. Don't know where you get a stamp for your passport though.

- Since Caramel is sort of a neutral color you could go with just about any color you want. Do you have a favorite painting, or picture you are using in the living room? You can use the color schemes in that to paint your walls. Going with a lighter shade. Have you thought about using more than one color? That can be very striking...
- Q:removing stain from 100% polyester sofa covers?
- I this a removable sofa cover? Those are almost always machine washable. Just wash it in your washer. If the cover is dark colored, use the cold water setting. If it is light colored, use the warm water setting. Add 2 scoops of Oxi Clean to remove stains. Hang to air dry to preserve the sofa cover. Good luck. -

- Q:Our forest green leather sectional sofa is almost 10 years old, and has seen a lot of use, but not abuse. The leather of the seats has a crazed look, as if the green finish has separated from the leather, perhaps. I would like to restore the sofa leather to look fresher and consistently the same color. I have used mink oil, neat's foot oil, and a leather treatment I got at the shoe store, but nothing's changed other than the leather is a little more supple.Is my next logical step to find a green shoe or leather dye? The seat cushions are not removable, and I do not want to use something which will rub off on people's clothes as they sit down.
- If you still like the sofa alot, but don't like how it looks worn. You could update it by getting it reapolstered. They may be able to redo the cushions and put whatever fabric or leather on you choose. If you dont want to go through all that, then it may be time to buy a new sofa!

- Steam cleaning will bring it back. You can either have it professionally done, rent a steam cleaner, or do it yourself if you own a steam cleaner. Cotton is fine with steam cleaning. Always check your cleaning tag on your sofa first.
