- Q: in the catalog the cushons look look like a sofa to sit in and how is there fabric does it hold up after a lot of use
- Ikea sofas are very popular with customers and they come in many styles and makes that will amaze you. When you need comfort in furniture, you ask yourself where you can get it at an affordable price and if you have heard of Ikea,This is because Ikea is an undisputed manufacturer and retailer of good sofas that will meet your every need. When you are getting a sofa, there are various things to consider and the first thing is the space the sofa is going to occupy. You need to have enough room before you bring your sofa of any size. The second vital thing is the design and style and many people go for a themed sofa or the one that brings out your homes personality. There are many other things to consider. I think it depends on the sofa you get. Mine is sort of modular and the frame has been absolutely fine for almost 5 years now, and I use it for sleepover guests.
- Q: I have these horrid terracotta coloured sofa covers. They are horrid because our carpet is wine red - so they don't go! They are unused - so are the 'spare' set...but our current set has seen the last of its days. I am hoping to save money and not have to buy a new sofa - but just make sure that these sofa covers are a better colour than they currently are!Dylon pre-dye - which is for removing colour seems to work okay. But it hasn't removed enough for me to feel that it is okay to then dye them - I am going for beige. As the carpet is already dark, I do not feel that dark sofa covers will work. So - I was wondering if I could further use bleach for these covers (they are cotton) and how much I would need to use in the washing machine for them to do the job. They don't need to be white - just a bit lighter than they are! They are sorta a darker buttercream once the pre-dye has been used. Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated! - TIA
- There are a couple of problems with that idea.First, bleach weakens the fabric so you could be left with a swiss cheese type cover after a few days. The second problem is it would not strip out the color evenly. So you would be stuck with a calico type print sofa cover which sounds worse than what you have now! And as I'm writing this I was thinking, have you ever spilled bleach on something? For instance,i spilled bleach on my favorite black flannel pj.'s a couple days ago. It stripped the color out but it was a odd pinkish color. You would not be able to assure the out come of your sofa cover color because you don't know what colors the makers of the cover used when mixing the colors for your covers. Bottom line, bleach would make a poor dye for your covers because of strong reaction with fabrics. You may just have to buy more sofa covers, which sounds a lot cheaper than new carpet!
- Q: My 7 week old puppy (saint bernad) was with me sitting on the couch and my oldder dog(shih tzu) and when the older dog jump he jump and I didn't have time to catch him and his head landed first and he started crying and even dog my shih tzu isn't very fond of him, he started checking on the puppy to see if he was ok. He cried for about 20 seconds and then stoped and walk away, but I'm worry, could any damage be done? How to make sure? And what can I do?
- He just shocked himself by falling and was probably just scared. Probably no damage was done.
- Q: I sold my sofa on a social networking site and got quite alot of interest. .someone came round to view it and was happy to leave a deposit..they came round again yesterday to help take it apart and we helped to deliver it and put it back together at their place, the money was exchanged and I left. Today I got a phone call complaining about the sofa saying there not happy with it saying its all worn and and want some money back! Do I have to refund them the money??
- Tell them you want money for the delivery and setup you performed.
- Q: A sofa is mounted on rollers so that it moves with negligible friction. Pushing that sofa up a ramp from the street onto a moving van, a worker does 1600 joules of work on the sofa. Yet, the sofa gains only 100 joules of kinetic energy; it’s not moving too fast at the top of the ramp. A) How is this possible? B) Is energy conservation violated here? Please explain. Thanks
- (A) It's possible, because the work done by the worker on the sofa is the kinetic and potential energy he gives the sofa. Since the sofa goes up a ramp, it definitely gains gravitational potential energy: The higher off the street it gets, the more “potential” it has to gain speed if it falls. (B) Energy conservation is not violated: Of the 1600 joules of work done by the worker on the sofa, 100 joules go into the sofa’skinetic energy while the other 1500 joules go into the sofa’s potential energy.
- Q: I have 2 small children and 2 cats. The cats (whom I have not declawed because they are indoor/outdoor), have tore up each corner of both my sofa loveseat while using them as a scratching post. There have also been a few accidents while changing my baby's diapers on the sofa. So I pan to get them cleaned and then slipcover them both. But there are a few styles of clipcovers ~ snug/hug fit, relaxed fit that hangs, and then a combo of both. I have noticed that the combo fit (the latest style) is most attractive. The problem here is that the snug area of this cover is on the exact spots that my cats used to scratch. I am thinking that they will be able to get their claws into this as well. And if they can, they will as they have done the same to every corner of every mattress in the house. So lets say I go for the relaxed fit, is there any suggestions of what I should look for? Any problems with certain ones? Am I wrong about the snug fit being a continual issue with the cats? Thanx!
- slipcover it with a similar fabric. the foam, now the seat, won't really move with the slpcover and the less movement the better (neater appearance). the foam however will slightly raise the height of the sitting area. if you want you can even attach a pegboard under foam
- Q: davenport? Where did the term davenport originate?
- The word davenport has mysterious origins. It first appeared about l897, and it is thought to have come from a Davenport Compamy that made furniture. The English Chesterfield and the davenport are similar pieces of furniture. Oddly, there was a davenport desk that was also about the same vintage. There was also a china company by that name. My mother called it a davenport, I don't know if it was regional, or what. She grew up in Nebraska. The word couch is also an odd one, but that comes from Middle English couche, from Old French culche, couche, from couchier, to lay down, lie down Sofa, or sopha, an Arabic word used as early as 1625, raised section of a floor, covered with carpets and cushions, from Turk. sofa, from Ar. suffah bench. Meaning long stuffed seat for reclining is recorded from 1717. I call it a couch, or sofa, whatever happens to fall out of my mouth, lol!
- Q: Okay any ideas on what type of sofa I could possibly buy to fit into my new home. My doorway is narrow. It measure approx. 28 across and 67 for height.
- I would take my tape measure with me and check out IKEA. They have some lovely furniture and I'm sure that you will find something that will fit.
- Q: If you have bought a sofa from Furniture Row Outlet did you like it? How was the quality - did it hold up?
- were is this place at?
- Q: I've had dark blue upholstered sofas and black dogs for years with no problems. The dogs shed, but it doesn't show up on the sofas. However I recently rescued an English Mastiff and she's got light hair, which shows up really bad against the dark colors. It's pretty much impossible to vacuum it completely from the upholstery.I'm going to get new sofas soon because the sofa and loveseat are my college furniture and they are wearing out. I was thinking about chocolate brown leather so that the dog hair wouldn't adhere to the fabric, but dogs' claws can scratch those really easily, right? Are there any other options that would look nice? A fabric that dog hair wouldn't adhere to and dog claws wouldn't scratch up?
