- you cant really go off miles in some cases. 87k miles is plenty of time to wear out a bearing depending on how it has been driven for those 87k miles. I ruined both front wheel bearings just driving through some deep water once and only had 2k miles on it. the harder you are on it, (bigger wheels/tires than what the factory recommends, off road driving, 87k miles of a speed demon) - will wear just about out any wheel bearing prematurely.

- I'd recommend using denatured alcohol since it contains no water. Your rubbing alcohol is still 9% water. Be sure the bottle is clean and dry before using. Cleaning time should be at minimum 15 mins. An hour if they are really dirty. You will need to remove the shield to clean the bearings. If the shield is crimped on, it is not removable. Luckys use metal shields, so you will have to carefully remove the retainer, fine wire around the outside of the shield before cleaning. Speed Cream will work for any skate bearings, nit just Bones.

- Q: Do you need to relube your bearings if you leave them in their boxes(opened)?I bought bones reds, and I opened the box. I plan to leave it there for 3-5 days untill my other shipments(trucks, wheels) come. Will the lube dry/go away? Should I relube it in 3-5 days?
- I would not recommend re-lubing cause they are already lubricated with speed cream and if you put too much in the bearings slow right down and get dirty so I would leave them especially cause they are new ..the lube is meant to dry in a way so the balls absorb the lube ....And make sure you buy speed cream DO NOT use CRC or WD40 cause it breaks down the Nylon part and is generally not good for them ..Also don't clean with citrus cleaners, the best thing to do is get some petrol and take the bearings out of the wheels and take the red barrier thing off (carefully) and drop them in ..Then lube them with speed cream 2 drops is perfect ..But yeah that's about all you need to know ...Definitely buy Bones speed cream its $10 in NZ where im from so go to a skateshop and buy some Good luck and Happy skateboarding Tom

- ;0) Do as Andy says, I also use a old socket to remove and refit the wheel bearings on my bikes.If they prove hard to shift then get a few ice cubes (in a plastic bag and cover the bearing only, as it will contract the metal. Also when you come to put the new ones in put them in the freezer for 30min's as the metal will contract and make then easier to re insert. I did this with the rear bearings on the back wheel of my Blade and had no problems getting the old ones out or the new ones in.
