- The bearings has nothing to worry about accelerating, braking etc. now, bearings needs to be lubricated and do not be immerse in water , also at installation need to be clean, lubricated with the recommended lubricant and clean, any foreign material will destroy the bearing overtime. A well maintained bearing should last the life of the car....

- packing bearing easy... you get a palm full and take the bearing big side down and push it in your hand little at a time a round the outer edge gap...til it pushes the grease out the other side..... kind of keep doing it til you see new grease and your done.... when you tap in the rear seal on the hub put a small amount in the hub between the bearing but you dont have to but it dont hurt too... when you tighten the outer nut is tight and then back off to fit pin thru hole your done.. fast way to get seal off is after you remove outer bearing put nut back on and give it a good tug most of the time the seal will pop right out

- Q: For my college engineering design project my team is basically designing a mousetrap car that has to travel a minimum distance of 3 meters and the dimensions are 20cm X 10cm X 10cm. The car will rely on its coasting phase to travel the majority of this distance so the reduction of friction between the axle and body needs to be at a minimum. I was thinking of using ball bearings for high quality rc cars but the only problem I face is how to keep them in the body which is basically a sheet of aluminum with two 1 cm edges bent 90 degrees downward with an 8 cm hole drilled through each side for the axles (od of bearings is 8 cm). I was thinking of using epoxy to keep them in but id like to hear other opinions.

- Q: I took my car to the dealer within two months of purchasing it (after I had taken it another repair shop--being told that the bearings needed to be replaced). - 30,000 miles? should have been taken care of under warranty? tires really shouldn't cause premature bearing failure, unless they are way out of balance causing shaking. The bearings might not have been worn enough to be noticed when the new tires were put on. Perhaps your new tires run quieter so you hear more noises that were hushed by the noisy cheap tires you had previously?

- As the myth goes, back in the good-ol' days shady mechanics would sell unnecessary work to customers as an additional profit center, including the service/repair/replacement of made-up parts such as muffler bearings, blinker fluid and the ever-popular spark plug oil. None of these things of course, exist. So yes, your friend is having you on. I suggest you take it and run with it. Do a whole report on the history, design, safety features and of course servicing of the oh-so-important exhaust bearing, including how to diagnose and repair problems. Then impress your friend with the amount of work you put into your first homework assignment. Be very serious about it - make him think HE'S STUPID for not knowing what an exhaust bearing is. Then spring the punchline.

- The okorder (fill out the form on the right) Once you get your new wheel bearing, you can take your old hub (with the old bearing) and the new bearing into a local repair shop. They will press out the old bearing and press in the new for much less than a complete job. You can then take the hub with the new bearing and put it back into your BMW. The rest is just wrench work.

- You can Just make sure it is high temp grease. I didnt see where it was for a skateboard. I think it was added after I answered the question. I was thinking it was for A hub bearing on an automobile.
