Q:i just found my skateboard after about 5 years and two of the wheels are rusted and wont move. im working on replacing the wheels and bearings, but the two rusted wheels still wont come off i was able to get the bolt off of one and it now spins, but thats about it. its been soaking in coke all week and i bought wd-40 today and used that.

They are probably 1/4 or 5/32 diameter balls, but the rest of your question leaves me wondering. The hubs that your bike has are quite OK for the grade of bike you have, and just replacing the bearings will have no effect- or if anything a negative effect- on the operation of the hub. Keep in mind that the bearings run on cups pressed into the hub and on cones that are threaded onto the axle, so replacing bearings on a new bike without upgrading these items is useless. By the way, my guess is that the cups and cones can't be upgraded. I suggest that you leave what seems to be a brand new bike alone and stop trying to improve on something that doesn't need it. If you have some problems, see you dealer and explain it to them- chances are any adjustments will be free (or cheap).

Really no difference. Neoprene shields are a little easier to get out if you are going to clean or relube the bearings but you only have to take one out per bearing and only do it one time (since you don't reinstall the one you removed).
