- Q: I heard that gas makes skateboard bearings go fast and go a long time. Can you do it with sealed bike bearings? If so, how long should it soak?
- I wouldn't do it. By soaking the bearings in solvent you dissolve the grease they're packed in. In theory you might gain a minute amount of speed because there's now less rolling resistance but the bearings won't last nearly as long. Remember there's less load on a skateboard's bearings then a bicycle's. I wouldn't do it. By the way never use gasoline as a cleaning agent, they're are a number of solvents out there which are safer and do a better job.

- Q: Took my car to a local shop today b/c I thought I heard a funny noise. Mechanic said my exhaust bearings were bad... He said I needed 2 new ones and they were 150 each plus labor. Estimate of $500 for everything. Anyone know where I can get them cheaper? Or are they always this much?Thanks

- Bearings are the same unless you have 10mm axles. You would know this when you get the trucks. They use a different bearing, but the wheels are the same. Skateboard parts are standardized.

- If you are talking about roller skate bearings I absolutely love my bones bearings. All of their bearings are great! Kind of pricey but well worth it if you can take care of them. Also Sure-Grip ones are great. I like to go with either 7 or 9 ball bearings in them.

- It really depends what you want the bearings for and what you want them to do. Might I suggest ceramic bearings, or perhaps needle roller bearings. Perhaps taper bearings would be good or those that will run in a vacuum with no lubrication. I've always found traditional bearings to be good up to 175 mph in wheels.(not a cycle wheel.) :-)

- bearings-bones reds, fast and they last a long time too trucks- i usually buy ventures but they're pretty heavy for the wheels,ricta, and find a wheel size thats perfect for you i always buy 53's
