- Q:Just wondering if anyone knows a product that will loosen carpet glue without ruining the finish on a terrazzo floor... the previous owners of our house covered up the terrazzo with carpeting and glued down the padding... not a lot of glue, but enough for me to say bad words, and I'd really like to take some of the carpeting out, but can't afford to have someone else come in to refinish the terrazzo at this point...Anyway, does anyone know of anything I could use?
- The extension handle on the scraper will help your back from getting too sore. I spent many a day (between the ages 19-23) scraping carpet/vinyl glue off of sub-floors and tile. I don't envy you your task! (lol) PS- Removing the old carpet is going to improve the overall health of your home. Old carpeting is the #1 cause of asthma and other air-born illness's. When we moved into our home the FIRST thing we did was remove and replace the carpeting. (At that time we could not afford to replace with real wood floors.) 4 years ago we found some tongue and groove laminate flooring (from all places) at Sams Club. It was super simple to install and the price was RIGHT! So, now we have wood flooring all in the upstairs area's of our home. Wood or Tile flooring is awesome. It's healthier easier to keep clean than carpet.

- You want a very low pile, looks pretty much like outdoor carpet (that green stuff) if you know what I mean. But if money is no concern I would go with a company that recycles carpet where they come in periodically and replace it (so ware and stains are no problem) with new recycled carpet. These carpets are better for the environment and have lower VOC's.

- Floor is recommended. Thought it's easier to cause fire and the heat?retention properties is slightly lower than the carpet, comfort matters, the comfort of carpet is better than the floor, if there are people smoking at home, it's much more convenient to clean floor! Put the life aside, the heat?retention of the carpet is better than the floor, but still better than floor tiles, cleaning is not convenient

- well, i have wood floors in my bedroom ( im 14) and i think it makes the room really pretty looking and more classy, plus you can really get your room clean ( like if you spill something it wont stain you just have to mop it up) although carpet is more comfortable i think wood flooring is a better choice. (:

Do not tell them you have the amount of yards of carpeting needed. This will give you an idea of how honest they are being. If you get a patterned carpet this calculator will not work. If you have pets get a padding that has a vapor barrier. Get the best padding you can afford. It supports you new carpeting. Home Depot in our area has a special for 99.00 to install your carpets. Then get you carpets cleaned every six month and it will last you for years.
- Q:I'm looking for a dark green Oriental rug. The green should be a forest or emerald green to replace the previous rugs. Every time I look for these greens, I find various shades of sage, teal, seafoam, and olive. This is not what I'm looking for. It needs to be large (at least 8x10 feet), and be classy/fancy and durable enough to cover the wooden floor in the dining room. A floral or Asian print would be preferred.
