Q:THE COLOR IS CYAN, AND THE CARPET IS BEIGE
Do not use a steam cleaner. it could make matters worse at this point. Take a piece of good ole duck tape, and double it over so it's sticky on both sides. Dab that on the spot then immediately switch spots on the tape and dab again. The sticky tape should pull the remainder out for you without spreading the ink to the rest of the carpet. Do not use a lint roller, use duck tape. If there is still a bit left, squirt the spot with some foaming shaving cream let it set for 15 minutes, blot and rinse with vinegar and water. I think the duck tape will finish the job. If there is still some left after the shaving cream take a clean damp cloth and punch the knuckle of your index finger into the cloth. Put it down on top of the stain and twist your hand clockwise. This removes the stain from between the threads without causing the fibers to get fuzzy.

Q:I was thinking of getting my new apartment re-carpeted. I bet I can get the landlord to pay half, but out of curiosity...can anyone give me an estimate of re-carpeting a small studio apartment with some flat (not fluffy) basic carpeting?
First, you need to find out your square footage/yardage. If carpet you are looking for is sold by square foot, obviously that is easiest to calculate. But if by sq yard, take your square footage, and divide by 9, I would add 5% to that as carpet runs in 12 foot and 15 foot widths, and must run in the same direction. A basic builder grade of residential carpet can run 15 bucks a sq yard installed with a cheap pad, pretty much the same for your basic commercial loop grade. Padding, however, is key.I would definately invest in the pad upgrade and not the carpet upgrade if money were a factor. The less movement the carpet has, the better it wears, meaning a dense, hard padding is the best, 6pound density or above.
Q:I have an area rug that my poodle urinates on when she's mad at me. Long story short she did it again while I was out and I didn't find it until it was dry and smelling up my apartment. Does anyone have tips on how to clean the rug myself without renting a shampooer and maybe how to deodorize the rug. I've tried fabreese and the baking soda stuff you leave on the carpet and vacuum up later. they didn't seem to work before so If anyone has anything else to suggest I'd be most grateful. Thanks
once its dry its a lot harder to clean, sometime however you can trick the stain. Using your steam iron, steam the spot where the dog peed, don't put the iron on the carpet it can melt/burn it, just let the steam soak into the stain for a couple minutes. Then clean it as though it were still wet

Q:I am moving into a foreclosure. The carpet is badly stained in some areas. I can't afford to replace all of the carpet. Do you know how to effectively remove stains from carpet? Resolve doesn't work.
The issue is and always has been, less about the carpet and more about the padding. Certainly Hundreds of products are sold claiming to reduce or remove stains, and given that most carpet fibers are synthetics, they all may have some moderate success. It may also depend in large measure, on what caused the stain in the first place, and I promise you any WET attempts, no matter Who the PRO Cleaner is, who does the job,,, will leach to the padding. The same can be said for those machines so many rent from the grocery store. The problem will show soon enough, in that the stain, or some of it will appear to be gone from the carpet, but at least some of it will end up in the pad. Then as the carpet fibers will dry first the Moisture in the pad, along with the stain, will leach back up, into the carpet. Many PROS also use a Bonnet technique; similar to dry cleaning clothing. The machine (looking like a floor buffer) is fitted with an absorbent pad. Some chemical substance sprayed from an ordinary spray bottle is applied as the BONNET is then rotated over the stained area, gathering whatever amount is possible, into the Bonnet pad, while keeping a moisture level low so as to NOT allow seeping into the pad. In reality, if you want to keep this forecloser or even FLIP it you should probably pull the carpet, and at the very least replace the pad. You'll notice years of abuse that may not show on the carpet surface. Also to do the WET approach, even Stanley Steamer the likelyhood is that any leached substance/stain will add aromas to the house, when wet, that you might not enjoy, IE: Pet Urine. Steven Wolf
Q:We had to take our area rug outside for a cleaning and now it is raining. The rug probably will remain wet for at least 36 hours. Are there steps we can take to prevent mildew from setting in?
Another tip: Allow your carpet to dry flat... dont roll it up or anything... maybe get a hook hanger and hang it by your dryer... so the heat can dry it a bit faster! :) thats all i got! good luck! :)
Q:What should be done if the carpet has water in and smell sour?
if the carpet is detachable, put it outside under the sun, if not, spray some freshener.
Q:ok ive been searching up and down to find this beautiful rug for my living room... and to no avail.. I'm seeking my fellow yahoo friends..here is the link to the page where i originally found the rug of my desire.
