Q: Hi everybody! I just installed hardibacker boards in my bathroom. But I had to remove 1 pc 'coz I made a mistake. Can I still use it again? I screwed it every 8 inches around the edges and along every stud. Can I just cover the holes with thinset? Thanks!: I would roll red guard over all the sheets it is an elastomeric coating and it is a moisture barrier and tile over that.Red guard is available at tile showrooms and home improvement places and should be used anyways and will fill in the holes in that sheet and seal all the seams.

Q: What kind of mortar do you use to tape joints in cement backer board?: thin set. the same mortar you use to set the tiles with.

Q: i'm replacing the tiles in my tub area and i'm changing the existing wall to cement board. how do i join it with the rest of the bathroom wall that's texture?: Use backerboard screws, (or galvanized nails/screws) If you want overkill use stainless screws.. Some say you should 1st install a waterproof membrane to protect the wood framing from moisture ie Tyvek or felt paper etc. backerboard will not be damaged by water but it is not a waterprrof barrier. I don't know that for sure but better safe than sorry. Seams in wonderboard/hardiboard etc should be taped w/ fibreglass tape and tile adhesive. Edit: I just read your additioanl comments. I would extend the tile beyond the backerboard seams.
