Q: How does the fiberboard be sunked?
Water wet, or let it damp, once again flat after the natural dry.
Q: I'm installing a new bathtub, can I attach the tub to the cement board?
Yes, they did this on Blue Peter last year from velcro, a washing-up liquid bottle, and some sticky-backed plastic - remember when you're using the scissors to ask an adult to help!
Q: Or do I also use some sort of adhesive between the drywall and the cement board?
Cement board is an alternative to regular drywall. It is great for bathrooms or any areas that may get damp like kitchen backsplash.I would remove the original drywall and replace it with the cementboard. If you do a good job grouting your tiles then you shouldnt need to change it to cementboard unless the drywall is damged.I tiled a backsplash 15 years ago on top of drywall and it still looks as good as the day I did it.
Q: What is the prc in the building?
PRC (Pore Reduced Cement) is a high-performance cement material, it is in the process, performance, use, etc. have many unique advantages
Q: Thanks Alex. How much you think I should charge to install each 4x8 sheet of cement board?
I used to charge 2.50$ a s/f to install board or prep an area. That would include the board , thin set and nails ( or screws)to do it properly. 4x8 cement board is hard to find and heavier the all HE!!, so hire a friend. 3x5 sheets are much easier to handle by yourself. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: Help? Do I just lay new thinset on top or what?
You have a few options. Best remove all the old board and start again or to hand scrape the old thin set off but it is a lot of work. If the old thin set is fairly flat and no big gaps when thin set came up with tiles, then you can sweep the area well ( use a power-full shop vac) and smooth coat thin set between the ridges of the old trowel marks and let dry for a few days. If you have lots of big gaps, you may need to pour a self leveling compound over the whole area to make it flat again. This isn t hard, just messy if not done right. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL.
Q: I need to raise a bathroom floor about 3/4 inch. I have already poured a thin layer of self leveling concrete over what appeared to be some sort of concrete floor that had some uneven areas (60 year old house). I have read about how you are not supposed to put backer board on concrete because you can't secure it. My question is this: could you lay the backer board on top of the SLC, leave some small gaps between the boards, and then pour another layer of SLC on top of the backer board, thereby cementing it into place??
I d rather see you pore a SLC to the depth you need it.. Some compounds you can pore to the depth of 1 in 1 pore and some you need to do in 2 pores. Now if you need to do a full 3/4 depth you can do a tile mud bed , but this is a little challenging for a 1 st time. If you have some good DIY skills then you can probably do it. Just going over slab requires a few different steps when doing a mud bed over slab. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q: I can jump atleast 4 or 5 inches on a rug, grass, mud, sand. but i cant on cement when i ollie on cement my board like slips away after i pop and on everything else it doesnt. help?
Just keep on practicing. I have friends that are really good at skateboarding and practice is the best things there is
Q: I am trying to fix both my bedrooms there are about 350/400sq and I need to know about how many boxes I should buy? the size for the cement board is: 3 x 5 x 1/4in.If any one can help that would be great. I stick at math lol
Don't say I suck at math lol. That's nothing to laugh at, it's something to be ashamed of. Quit admitting you suck at it and aspire to be better at it. You don't need cement board for your project. That stuff is for installing tile. You want drywall, which is available in 4x8 sheets in various thicknesses up to 5/8. Each sheet of drywall is 32 sq. ft, so you'll need at least 14, plus maybe another one or two to accommodate the necessary waste of cuts and cutouts.
