It is a light-weight and high-intensity building material which is characterized by convenience in construction, great performance for
processes like sawing, nailing without being warped or cracks. In addition, the surface of the boards can be painted or covered with tile or wallpaper, not afraid of insects and not self-heating.
The product has great thermal insulation, sound insulation, and endurance for temperature change, so it meets the working requirements of building construction, especially with it's good fire proof, explosion proof, and no emission of noxious fumes.

- Q:how to install cement backer board behind a bath tub?
- Cut out the area where backerboard is going to be to the studs. Cut backerboard to size and sink with 5/8 or 3/4 inch drywall screws
- Q:I have a cement back porch/patio approx 5'x22' that I've decided to tile.I know...tile outside...touchy subject, except I got 20 inch tiles at a steal. Problem is, while doing a mock layout, I noticed that many areas on the surface are unlevel (the tile rocks). It difficult to identify every single unlevel spot so I can't patch. Any recommendations on leveling the whole thing? Someone mentioned use wonder board (thin cement board) as an overlay, but I believe you'll still have weak spots beneath.Anyone have a suggestion?
- how uneven is the slab. You can put a pretty thick layer of thinset adhesive and cover up some of the unevenness. If you put down a 1/2 inch of thinset around the bad spots will it stop the tile from rocking? the whole slab doesn't need to be even, but each tile needs to be even with the ones surrounding it
- Q:I'm not to good at figuring out quantities for sheetrock and cement board. I'm redueing my bathroom. I need to figure for how much sheet rock to get. My walls are 56L x 8'H, 6'Lx8'H, and 90Lx8'H. For my bathtub enclosure I have 61Lx82H, 3'Lx82H and 3'Lx82H.Any input on this would be greatly appriciated.
- You will need an 8' high sheet for each width you have. 56 + 72 + 90 + 61 + 36 + 36 351 inches 29 feet wide since they are 4 x 8 you have 29 / 4 7.3 sheets you should get more sheets for the waste and different sizes. Maybe 9 - 10 sheets.
- Q:If properly waterproofed/installed, will extreme temperatures still gradually warp cement backer boards and crack tile flooring? Thank you.
- If you are above grade and can't lay the tile over a smooth and level concrete surface, the cement board over a very stiff frame that is properly attached to a foundation or footing below the frost line should be fine. The challenge with an outdoor tile floor is to get the grout sealed properly and maintained so as to prevent moisture from making it in during rains.
- Q:I am trying to anchor a woody climbing wall to a cinder block garage wall and have settled on anchoring boards into the cinder blocks then building from there. so anything anchored there would be sharing a load of me-200 lbs, the plywood base and frame - 50lbs. plus any force generated by my jumping around on it.
- The blocks themselves are designed to carry a deadload from top to bottom. The walls of your blocks are to thin to carry any outward pressure, like you bouncing on it. I wouldn't trust cinder blocks to hold wall anchors. If you try to hammer-drill the middle of a cinder block, it will shatter. Anchor your boards vertically to the wall so that the floor is carrying any downward force. It would be best to install a deadman board to the ceiling joists which would hold your vertical boards tight to the wall. Anchors in the mortar joints would assist to carry the load more than anything else. Big fat toggle bolts would suffice in the application I described here. Edit, Use expansion bolts, or PL400 construction adhesive with concrete nails to secure wood to the floor. It also occours to me, you could just frame up a stud wall in front of the block wall. Anchor it to the floor with glue and nails, or expansion bolts, and nail it to the ceiling joists up top.
- Q:the neighbor has a son and him and his friends constantly makes noise instigating trouble. I complain to the manager, it stops and than starts back up again a week later, so I rather put up something that can help
- it helps a little, but sheetrock would be a better choice and cheaper to install. Or soundboard, which is designed specifically for situations such as you describe. Check with a contractor for the best solution to your problem and if you have saved any correspondence with the landlord/manager, then deduct the cost you incur from your rent. Should you still be required to pay your full rent, sue in small claims court for your cost--which you had to make because the manager/landlord refused to correct the problem. Good luck.
- Q:Lightweight composite wallboard can not be attached to the wall
- Light, economical, cost-effective. Infrastructure design began to use lightweight partition, can greatly reduce the structure and the basis of cost, and optimize the beam and column structure, the overall layout of the room more reasonable, more use of the function. Increase the use of area, improve the construction period. Economic benefits are more superior. After the use of lightweight composite wall panels, the weight of the building is reduced, the cross-section of the component is reduced, the seismic force is reduced, so that the overall force has improved, the internal force of the beam and the column is reduced accordingly, so the reinforcement is also reduced , And reduced the structural cost.
- Q:how do you join cement board from a shower wall to drywall?
- Other than being nailed to the same stud, it is not all that necessary that they be joined together. Just figure on the tile overlapping the drywall about a half an inch to kill the crack. You can mesh tape them together however and skim them flat with each other as long as you don't skim wide into the tile board area. You could do as little as just caulk the crack with silicone too.
- Q:what does this mean second phase in two phases material ( first phase is binding cement ) ?
- First consider the term 'phase' as in 'phase change', such as ice melting. It means a particular state of matter, solid or liquid in the melting of ice. However, in an inhomogenous solid material you can have two or more solid phases. For instance, Transite insulation board was made of portland cement and asbestos [not in use much nowadays]. So what you have is some two phase inhomogenous solid consisting of one phase as binder or cement, and the other phase could be a filler, a fiber, or whatever.
- Q:I removed old tile from my bathroom walls as well as the old vinyl flooring. Underneath the vinyl was cement backerboard, which is good. But all around the outer edges where the wall tile used to be, is a 1 inch gap where the floor board are showing. How do I get this gap filled? Do I need to rip up the old cement backerboard and start over? Can I cut small strips of new backerboard to slip in the crevice? Is there a compound I can fill the gap with? Any help out there?
- Fill it with thin-set. There won't be any pressure applied along the wall. Fill with thin-set and wait 24 hours to dry before installing tile. Just make sure to smooth it out and it's level with rest of the backer-board floor.
