- The temperature range refers to the temperature range of the medium in which the pump works. It is mainly determined by the influence of the pump material, especially the material of the shaft seal.
- Q: I took out the thermostat, filled coolant level to upmost, my car still overheats, it doesnt leak ne where.How can I tell if the water pump is workin?
- by the sound of it, no the water pump is not working. i had the same problem with my car. it started over heating, so i replaced the radiator cap, still over heated. replaced the thermostat, and still over heated. finally i took off the water pump, to find that the fins that are inside the punp, ( that move the water around) had all corroded away. i replaced the water pump with a new one, and its been running great ever since.

- As the name suggests, this type of pump relies on water power or suction to do its work. It's really just a glorified T Junction with a valve connected. It connects the wastewater pipe that leads out of the home from the drains, with the PVC pipe leading from the sump pit. These are backup pumps should the home's power supply be cut due to bad weather conditions. To operate, the flow of water from the drains and sinks in the home acts as a suction, pulling along the water from the sump pit to lead it out of the home to either a wastewater facility or a septic tank (depending whether or not the house is connected to a city water and sewer system). As you might guess, this type of pump is far less effective than an electric model. But in an emergency, it's better than nothing.

It flows more coolant than stock Heavy duty is one with alittle bigger impeller shaft and disk Elec. water pump runs on 12 volts, no belt You should not use an elec water pump on a street car, those flows less coolant and do not last as long. I recommed a Milidon high flow water pump for yours. I'm running one of those, a summit 31x19 alum rad, and a ford turus 2 speed elec. fan on a 500 HP engine in a camaro and never have any cooling probs.. Even on 6 hour one way non stop trip in 90-100* weather during the summer

- Drain Cooling System. Remove right front lower fender shield. Loosen pump pulley bolts Remove Accessory Drive Belt. Remove pump pulley bolts and remove pulley. Remove pump mounting screws Remove pump. Remove and discard O-ring seal. Clean O-ring groove and O-ring surfaces on pump and chain case cover. Take care not to scratch or gouge sealing surface. Reassemble in the opposite order. This will be a good time to replace your thermostat and check all hoses for wear and leaks.

- I'm sure you used a brand new gasket correct?I'm also sure you scraped any old residual gasket material off the block before you installed the new gasket and water pump correct?You're also suppose to torque the bolts on this water pump in a certain sequence and to 40 ftlbs.If its leaking from between the pump mounting surface and block,its most likely improperly torqued or under torqued bolts,old gasket material wasn't cleaned off good enough,or the block surface has gouges in it which are too deep for just the gasket to seal.If its leaking from the underside of pump out of weep hole,the remanufactured water pump is no good and needs replacement.Make sure none of your hoses clamps are loose.Make sure its coolant leaking and not silicone fluid from the fan clutch.Fan clutch also needs to be stored upright when its not bolted to the water pump.If not,this can cause fluid to start leaking out of clutch.Click link below for vehicle water pump diagram and related info.
- Q: I could get a 1994 Camaro, v6, no rust, automatic, excellent condition for $1200. THe ony thing is that it needs a water pump. Is it worth the buy? How much other damage could have been done with the water pump damaged? and how hard is it to replace the water pump?
- if its in good shape like you say have a mechanic look at it and if he gives you a good report on it buy it . you could also ask him what he would charge to put the water pump in as far as damage go's as long as the owner did not drive it with the bad water pump it should be ok. driving it like that can cause warped head's and blow the motor have it looked at before you buy it.

- Q: I am about to replace the timing belt in a 3.4L Toyota V6 at approximately 85,000 miles. The motor has had the Toyota red coolant, which lubricates a water pump very well. Should I, Or should I not replace a Toyota Water Pump also, at this mileage (85,000)? Could the original water pump last until 170,000? Thank you
- It will probably last you until 170k, but are you willing to take the chance? Sometimes changing those timing belts gets pretty labor intensive, and the pump is readily exposed, when if the pump goes out later, you would have to take everything off again. If the pump is not that expensive, do it now.
- Q: What is the average life of a water pump in a car?
- to many factors to consider such as: materials used for pump, pump design, the engine operator's driving habits. You could have had the wrong belt put on and that would effect pump life. There are just to many variables. I'd say over 60,000 easy. Most pumps come with LLT Warranties b/c you should only have to replace one once.
