Q:I have a 2001 chevy malibu and need to know how to check if the water pump needs replaced. The engine has been running much hotter than normal and is leaking coolant.

Remove the belt and try to turn it by hand. If it makes a growling noise or you can feel roughness in the bearing, then you should replace the pump. Also, look for any leaks anywhere around the water pump that would suggest it needs replacement. If there's no roughness or leaks at the pump, look elsewhere for a leak. Also check your radiator cap to make sure it's holding the proper pressure. Also check your thermostat to make sure it isn't starting to fail. Check to make sure your radiator fans come on too.

Q:Okay heres the deal Its knockin and I tthink the water pump is going would this be a cause of this and when it heats up it knocks but when its cold it doesnt knock also once it gets hot it shuts off and starts to smoke what could this be is it maybe the waterpump when I try to re start the car after it shuts it self off it only just clicks wount turn over thanks

I'm sorry to tell you, but from your description it sounds as if you have major internal engine damage. A water pump just won't cause the symptoms you are describing. I'd have to say your engine is close to seizing up entirely - the knocking sounds like rod knock in the bottom end of the motor.

Q:OK so i am new to RVing....I have an older 1971 trailer pull forester....It has a your normal fresh water inlet on the outside of the trailer, fresh water tank, and water pump. My question is actual a double part question #1 When i screw the hose on the inlet and start filling the water tank i hear it going in but i still have no water coming out the faucet...Does this have to do with the water pump? why am not getting water to anything except i hear the tank filling up?!?#2 Is the Water pump A/C or D/C......I have that little pull knob (that i guess turns it on or off) and i was curious if i needed to be hooked up to the Battery in front to make this work? or should it work with the regular AC that everything else is working on?Thanks for any help

There should be a switch to turn on your water pump and they are normally 12 Volt.There should also be a separate battery that runs all the 12 Volt systems in your RV.When you turn on your water pump it should build up pressure then shut off.It will turn back on as you use it.I think they are set at 40psi.I think you are going to find that you either have a dead battery or your pump is no good.The battery is usually located in a side compartment.Good luck.

The disadvantage is that it will not work with no wind. I would ask: 1. expected life 2. maintenance cost 3. capacity (liters/hour) at the mean wind speed on installation site 4. height it can pump the water (so that I can check the possibility of having a reservoir for the no wind period)

Not quite sure what you mean, but: Is the water pump malfunctioning? The car is overheating? Well, if it is the water pump, you would need to remove it to check how well it is functioning.

Q:I live in a house that uses a pump to push water from a tank to the bathroom and kitchen. It has a sensor that detects if water is flowing and pushes it much harder. Recently, it has been pushing the water for a second or less then it completely stops for a while. It's like a pulse of water then nothing. Can anyone give me feedback on what is wrong here? Q:I Need a water pump, no matter its fountain pump or high stream pump. But the things or you can say the parameters i required in that pump is, 2 inch minimum outlet from where the water come out, pressure 130 or above (in PSI) runs wid a 1 or 2 Horse Powered motor not more then 2HP. And the pressure calculation is flow of the water (130 Psi) , like while water is streaming out.Any one who can sugest some water pumps which can fulfill or near or above to my requirements. thanks alot sir for you kind time.

Q:I am planning to make a overflow box for my 55 gallon saltwater tank and need to know whats a good pump to get the water back up???

Rio pumps are inexpensive and are very very durable. I highly reccomend them. I keep my sump level fairly low so that when i see bubbles in the display tank cause the pump is sucking a little air, i remember to add top off water. My pump sucks air about once every other week prolly for a few hrs at a time, until i get home from work and its still going strong! (I know this isnt the best way to do it, but if i dont run it low enough for it to suck air i totally forget to add top off water). I havent had to replace the pump yet. I also replaced my outdoor garden fountain pump with a rio. It sucks up leaves and junk all the time with no problems (except when the leaves cover where it sucks the water but thats not the pumps fault lol)

Q:94 f150,302. my pump is still leaking after doin the job twice. its a new pump, the first time i used the red silicone between pump and plate,both sides of gasket,and the housing on the block. leaked. then did it again with high tack gasket cement and still leaks. i cleaned all metal both times with brake clean before installing. same with thermostat housing,small leak. ive done 100s of pumps over the years,no problems, so please no rude remarks on mechanical ability. what could it be? it leaks up front of the motor above the crossmember where ya cant actually see the leak,its not a freeze plug. bolts are torqued. any ideas ? thanks

It's not the pump that's leaking. The water ports to the pump pass through the aluminum timing cover, over time the aluminum corrodes and leaks between the block and the timing cover. You need to remove the whole works and replace the timing cover, may as well do the timing chain since you're in there.
