Q: 2008 yamaha v star classic
No. 1) it won't fit unless you get a custom rim. 2) it has a flat surface touching the ground. To lean a motorcycle, you need a rounded tire. So getting a car tire would mean you can no longer turn by leaning, so your turning radius and turning speed will be massively reduced. 3) a car tire is made of a hard rubber to make them last 70000 miles. A motorcycle tire is made of much softer rubber so that it grips the road. Using a car tire would cut your acceleration because if you gun it, the tire will just spin. Worse, if you slam on the brakes, there is a good chance that the tires would skid and that's a wreak.
Q: I was checking over my motorcycle before going on my ride today and noticed a staple in my rear tire. The tire is still holding air. I am going on a long trip over july 4 and this staple is making me question it. Since the tire is still holding air, I‘m not sure if the staple has punctured the tire, and am wondering if I should pull it out so it doesn‘t get forced in and actually cause a flat. But if i do pull it out and the tire goes flat, I‘m screwed. What should I do? I don‘t know if the dealer can have a tire changed for me by next weekend and I really want to go on that ride.
If it is a paper staple you can pull out with no problem but first take some soapy water and pour on tire and if you don't see any bubbles then pull out and you'll be good to go
Q: Are Bridgestone Duravis 250 tires manufactured in US?
Bridgestone does not make any motorcycle tires in the USA. Most all motorcycle tires are made in Japan, some are made in china. But absolutely none are made in USA
Q: After I laid my bike down during a 10 mph turn, I notice that when i straighten the handlebars my front tire isnt aligned. Is this a big problem? Im not familiar with fixing motorcyles. I have a gsxr 600 and been riding for 1 and ahalf years
The forks are probably just twisted a bit. You can go through all the rigamarole of loosening everything up and re-torquing, or you can just ride the bike up to a fire hydrant, building or other relatively immovable object, lay the side of the tire up against it, and tweak the bars straight. That way, you won't have to finish your ride nagged by the thought that your front end is all wonkus. If you still feel the need to do something more elaborate when you get home, you are free to do so.
Q: So the rim now sets inside the tire. The someone was ME!
No big deal,,,just takes bit different effort. Put One side of the tire back onto the rim. Most will go on 1/2 way 'round or more by hand. Go ahead and lever it fully onto the rim. The Other side is Already OFF,,and will remain off,,,right? So to REMOVE the Tire,,,, Push the side you just put back On across the Rim to the opposite side of Rim. Keep one side of the tire down in the center of the Rim,,,and begin to lever the tire Off the Rim on the opposite side You started from. BOTH sides of the tire must come Off the Same side of the Rim
Q: I just bought a motorcycle and when I got it home I discovered that the front wheel will turn all the way right and back straight again, but not leftdoes anyone know why this might be? thanks
Maybe it's a flat track or Speedway bike! I would agree that you should check your cables for proper routing if not the other suggestions. They(cables) can limit steering travel if not routed correctly.
Q: I have a nail lodged in the tire still and it leaks air when I try to pull it out. I think its a pretty hole too. So how do I seal it and with what?
if you dont know what you are doing, take the whole rim and tire off and take it to a shop. Your life depends on your tiresIf you screw it up and the plug comes off you may make the 6oclock news. If the shop screws it up, your kin might make a pretty penny off suing the shop after you become roadkill THERE ARE NO PRETTY HOLES ON TIRES!!! If the hole is anywhere near the sidewall, replace the tire.
Q: What should be the minimum gap distance between the tyre and the swingarm of a motorcycle?
That is going to vary by motorcycle.
