Q:this tire is on a motorcycle and it is a Harley Heritage Classic
It still has some worth left in it,the only possible thing you can do is sell all the bits and pieces and get and old bicycle with the money.
Q:I was riding my ninja 250 today. It had rained earlier in the morning but when i left the house it was just drizzling. Everything was fine on the highway but once i got off and was riding on regular streets, i encountered some problems. On two occasions i tried to engine brake by downshifting at low speeds and both times my rear tire skidded. The first time was no big deal but the second time i strayed to the left and had to save my motorcycle from falling. Is this normal? This is the first time i ride in the rain. What did i do wrong?
Rain will always mean less grip between your tires and the road, but some situations are worse than others, depending on the quality of the road surface, how hard it is raining/the amount of water on the road, and how long it is since it last rained. The light drizzle that you mentioned can sometimes make the road especially slippy, especially if it hasn't rained for a while, as the moisture pulls all the pollution, diesel particulates and dirt in the road to the surface, but there isn't enough rain to wash it into the gutter. You are going to have less grip on wet roads, and you have to pay much more attention to your riding style. A bike like yours is going to give you plenty of 'feel', and with practice you should be able to feel how much grip you are getting out of your tires, and when they are getting close to letting go. You want to be braking smoothly and progressively, using both the front and back brakes, and when it's more slippery you want to use more back brake than you would normally. If you managed to almost crash (highside?) your bike purely through down-shifting/engine braking, it sounds to me like you are putting undue stress on your bike when you have perfectly good brakes for that job. Do you find that you get through chains and sprocket sets especially quickly?
Q:I‘m 17, about to go into my senior year in high school. I‘ve began to save money for a vehicle and for now I‘m using my brother‘s car to get to the places that I need to go until I can save enough to purchase my own vehicle. For a little while I‘ve considered getting a motorcycle instead of a car. My brother and I talked and if I need to use his car he‘d let me. My reasons for wanting a motorcycle are the insurance is extremely cheap, they‘re good on gas, and I only primarily need something that‘ll get me from place to place. Now my concern is driving in the winter (I live in Upstate New York). I know that there are studded winter tires for motorcycles, but before I invest in this vehicle I‘d like to hear the opinions of other riders. I‘m not completely unfamiliar with motorized bikes, when I was younger I had a 70 cc dirt bike for a few years. I apologize if my ideas seem a bit scattered.
sensible ideas it seems. motorcycles while cheap to run no matter how expensive always let rain fall on you. also in winter are extremely dangerous. despite tyre changes. risk to life etc isn't worth freezing but off and possibility of falling off in bad conditions or even more likely getting smacked by a vehicle. car while more expensive can be a life saver and also be a part of a students social life. few girls want a ride in bad weather on back of a bike let alone winter. protective clothing, helmet etc are a drag too .storage ,donning etc if we can afford boththen we have solution. otherwise odds are a cheap runaround car will be best investment.
Q:and what ones are the most expensive to maintain? I‘m talking about routine maintance such as the oil changes, maybe new tires, etc. I‘m very new at this so I don‘t even know what all is involved in a bikes upkeep. Help me.
The smaller the tire the higher the tire pressure you need and the less rolling resistance you have. They are also liter and the less mass allows you to accelerate quicker.
Q:Hi everyone, I have a 2003 Yamaha V-Star. Does anyone know the going rate to repair the back tire of these motorcycles or similar ones? I‘m trying to get her fix up for this summer, so I could enjoy the summer months.
Motorcycle tires don't repair well. If it's worn out, you need to replace it. Replacement cost should be $150 to $200 installed for the rear tire. A bit less for the front. Depends on the brand of tire and the shop charge for replacing it of course. It will be less expensive if you can take the wheel off yourself and take it into the shop for them to dismount the old tire and mount a new tire.
Q:Are Vespa motor scooters more safe than motorcycles?
No, all scooters in general are less safe then motorcycles. The smaller tires are more prone road hazards and offer less traction. The steering geometry has less rake and are less stable because of that. The front and rear suspensions have less travel then a motorcycle and the rear suspension has more unsprung weight then a motorcycle and both of these things lead to poorer handling. Scooters are nimble and a lot of fun but no way are they safer then motorcycles.
Q:where can i find plans to make a motorcycle tire swing?
Forgive my ignorance, but what is a motorcycle tire swing? a tire swing that's been shaped roughly into a motorcycle shape. dunno how to go about making one. i can tell you it wouldn't be easy tho
Q:How would a motorcycle ride in a horizontal circle?
There are circus acts in which the motorcycle is being ridden around a horizontal ring. You might think that that's the equivalent of your diagram with a theta of 90 degrees. But what actually happens is that the motorcycle is not pointing at the center of the ring, but at a point slightly above the center of the ring. That has to be done to provide the upward force required to counteract the weight of the motorcycle and rider. The faster the motorcycle goes, the smaller this above the center angle needs to be. In your diagram, you're actually ignoring the weight of the motorcycle and rider. If that was being taken into account, that line from the point of contact through the rider would not be pointing at the center of the sphere, it would be pointing just above the center of the sphere.
